Easy Cupcake Presentation With Blue Hawaii Cupcake Recipe

Hi Everyone!True :D here.Welcome to day 5 of our "Recipe Swap and Food Packaging Week"!
For thoes of you who don't know, I create digital stamps and lately have been doing some fun cupcake wrappers. Bonnie suggested that I feature my wrappers during this special week, so I thought I would show you a very simple way to decorate and present a cupcake.This would be a great little gift for a teacher, mailman, paper boy, or just about anyone!
This is what the gift looks like all prettied up with Double Band Teal Satin/Grosgrain ribbon.

I simply put the cupcake in one of my digital "Snowflake Cupcake Wrappers", dropped it in a clear Dixie cup then down in a clear treat bag. Add a tag from the digi set and the pretty ribbon and you have a cupcake worthy of gift giving!

 I was very excited to see that Wilton makes blue snowflake sprinkles.

I have seen them in almost all stores I have been in lately!

This is what my cupcake looked like after a little taste testing. Mmmmm nummm yummy!

I wanted a blue cupcake to match my wrappers so I went looking for a recipe and found one called Blue Hawaii. While that recipe looks great, I wanted something a little faster so I came up with my own recipe made with a cake mix and added a few extra ingredients.

Here is my version of the Blue Hawaii cupcake.

True's Blue Hawaii Cupcakes

1 White cake mix prepared as directed using the egg white version.

Add the following:

 1 small can of crushed pineapple that has been drained VERY well.

1 cup shredded coconut

1 tsp. coconut extract

2 or 3 drops of blue food coloring

Fold to incorporate added ingredients then bake as directed on package.

Cool, then frost with pre-made Whipped White Frosting then sprinkle with coconut and optional snowflake sprinkles .

Yes, I cheated and took the easy route, but they sure turned out yummy!

Now if you'll excuse me...I have a cupcake to finish!  LOL!

Sneakin' In Some Ribbon!

Hi Everyone!True :D here filling in for our sweet Crystal while she is a little under the weather. (Get well soon Girlfriend!)
Before I show you my project, I would like to remind you of a couple of things. For one, we have a fun challenge going on now and we would love to have you play along with us. The theme is "Pink and Brown"...with ribbon of course!  ;)Also, don't forget to sign up for the awesome "Summer Blog Candy" that Bonnie has up for grabs! :)
OK...on to my layout...You know...I bet 99% of my projects have ribbon somewhere on them (I just LOVE the stuff) but...I don't always want a bow, so I will just sneak a dab in somewhere else.Look at my layout below and see if you can spot the ribbon right off the bat! :)Remember, you can click on any picture to enlarge. 

I used a piece of pretty Rose Diamond Satin as one of my "designer paper" strips. It adds a touch of extra texture and shimmer to the layout.

Decorative Ruler and Tie Knot Tutorial

Hi Everyone!

True :D  here.

Today, I have prepared a quick little video tutorial to show you an easy way to decorate a plain ruler with designer paper and ribbon. They would make great last minute stocking stuffers for less then a dollar!Of course I always use Really Reasonable Ribbon's gorgeous grosgrain ribbons on the rulers. The color I used in this video is the orange swiss dots.

Sparkle Velvet and Glitz Oh My! :)

Today I have made a couple of projects using Really Reasonable Ribbon's beautiful products.

On these clean and simple cards, I just used white cardstock, a piece of Really Reasonable Ribbon's  gorgeous Green Glitz or Purple Glitz ribbons, some flowers and a Light Green Vintage Jewel.

These are some notebooks that I made for Christmas gifts using some beautifully sparkling Black Sparkle Velvet from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Here is a quick video that I have prepared showing one way to be frugal with your ribbon.

"Country Up" Your Cards With Jute String!

Hi True :D here!

I have a card (well...six) to show you that is done with my "Rooster Sunrise" stamp set that will be available November 1st at Clear Dollar Stamps.

I used lots of Kraft paper and some Natural Jute String from Really Reasonable Ribbon to top off that "country" feel.

Check out all of the colors of Jute String that are available. It is a great way to add country charm to any project!

Using Wired Edge Ribbon for a Dramatic Embellishment

Hubby is home and it's my turn to post on the Really Reasonable Ribbon's Ramblings blog!

Another Card with one of my illustrations and SWIRLS ribbon!

This is my favorite time of the year!

I just love the warmth of fall colors! I did this card with a fall pallet and one of my stamp illustrations that I drew for Clear Dollar Stamps.

This is such a fun image to color!

I am thinking that us Kansas folk could use it for a Kansas Jay-Hawk too! ;)

I used my all time favorite ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon again. Hope you all don't get tired of seeing it because I know I won't get tired of using it! LOL!

It is the Moss Swirls plus I added some Black Swirls to the double bow.

I used assorted sized 6 petal flower punches, a leaf punch,  and a corduroy brad to make the sunflower.

I am at a big crop in Topeka, Kansas right now (I love the "auto-post" function of Blogger) but would be thrilled if you would leave a comment for me to read when I get home.;)

A couple of weeks ago, I did a card with a ribbon heart on it and got quite a few emails and comments asking how I did it. I worked up a quick little tutorial to show you how. It is quite simple actually and a wonderful way to use up some of those stash scraps!

The ribbons and supplies I used are all from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Make A Card Using Large Ribbon Instead of Designer Papers!

Hello everyone!

True :D here.

Today I am showing you a card done with several types of ribbon and trim instead of designer papers.

I used Bazzill Swiss Dots in Clover for the base with some Kraft pieces for contrast.

I don't normally use ribbon that is this big but I thought it would work great as a kind of second focal point.

The fun Ribbon and trim are of course from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

They are:

2.5" Jute ribbon in Lemongrass

7/8" Red Gingham

Jute String

The image is from "I Brake For Stamps" and is colored with watercolors.

The sentiment was added with a Sharpie marker.

The bow was tied using the AWESOME Bow-Easy.

Sometimes you need a card quick but just can't bring yourself to go buy an impersonal store-bought card.

Or perhaps you are a beginner or want to craft with a kid. CAS  (Clean And Simple) are great for these occations! Although I usually do detailed cards with lots of coloring and "stuff", I like CAS too.

I created this card for "Really Reasonable Ribbon" It only took a 5" piece of this pretty "Funky Pink and Brown Vertical Stripe" ribbon.  that is part of this months Ribbon Club set. This ribbon is only .25 cents a yard so the piece on this card only costs about .04 cents. Not too shabby for a focal point! You could do a gift set of these for a very nice gift without spending hardly anything!

I picked my ribbon first the found 2 pieces of scrap paper that matched. Not a bad way to use up small pieces either! These pieces are from The Paper Temptress. The colors are Cappuccino Mica Metallic and Mountain Rose Glimmer. The card base is their Heavenly White.

The scallops were done with Stampin'Up's scallop punch and the Cappuccino CS was embossed with Cuttlebug's Dots folder. Add a Prima flower and a pretty button and viola! A beautiful card in about 15 minutes! I also added a Flourishes sentiment from their "Thankful Hearts" set.
