Who am I?

Okay ladies, I'm having a bit of a crafty identity crisis.  I have no idea what my style is any more.   So........back in the day when I had time to follow my crafty desires, I knew who I was.  Lots of layers, precision cutting and coloring, bright colors, etc.   Now, I hardly ever have time to craft and when I do, it's just pandemonium!  I don't know what I'm doing, what I'm using, what kind of project I want to make.  Has this ever happened to any of you?   So, I'm searching for the new 'crafty me'......  You are likely to see a bunch of trial 'identities' while I play around.  Hang in there,  okay?   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~   Today I have a couple of kinda CAS birthday cards.  I really want to embrace this style because I like it - and, well, when you have limited time it seems like this is the way to go.  Just not sure if I can pull it off..............  

 

I accessorized this first card with a piece of 1-1/2" wide Tulip Grosgrain - (love that color!) and some Plum Baker's Twine.

Playing with Textures

  Hi everyone!  Vivian here to share with you a recent card project that's all golden. In my mixed media work and various papercrafting projects, I've been playing around with shapes that are somewhat abstract and have really gotten excited about the multitude of ways in which we can incorporate texture into our projects.  

 

The great variety of textures in the fibers available at the Really Reasonable Ribbon shop makes me really happy!  So while some folks crave the mall and fashions, I am perfectly content to stay home in my pajamas and load my online RRR cart!  Check out how this stuff glistens in the morning light!

 

Time for me to order more organza!

In this card project, I liberally wrapped a square of richly decorative foiled patterned paper with Metallic String Gold.  Then I randomly wove a few lengths of Sheer Iridescent Copper Organza through the strands of gold string.

 

My focal image is an abstract cluster of textures created with the aforementioned fibers, pearls, and a matte translucent button.

And one of my favorite Hampton Art sentiments, a reminder to take life one day at a time.  We all need that, don't we?  Especially on humpdays.  Hope y'all cruise on into the weekend and see you back here next month. -Vivian SUPPLIES:

Make you own Bow Maker

 

Hello, my dear crafty friends! Today is my last post as a Guest Designer on the Really Reasonable Ribbon blog and this will be a small tutorial I want to share with  you.

And as ribbons are the main issue of this blog/shop, how about your own portable Bow maker and this time I am pretty sure it's a new and never seen tutorial. Why I am sure about it?  I used  my dental supplies to make it and I am pretty sure about not having so may dentists crafting with ribbons around the web.

So here it is- my Portable Tin Bow Maker for you. Look like a cute altered box? So it is, but wait for the inside of it.

Don't worry- dental supplies are not obligatory, you can use any paper clay or polymer clay to make this tool.

Pick a tin with a lid- can be a recycled one too (I used Making Memories tin, but any mint tin about 3x2'' will do the job.)

Now pick some molding paste (can be bought in any craft shop, but if you have a dentist friend it's even better as our molds smell better and mine has this great grape taste and smell). Make four 3'' wooden pegs from your BBQ wooden sticks or use an old chopstick.  We all have some at home and you will need them during the process and  to use  for your bow making after. Now mix the equal parts of both pastes (all molding pastes have 2 parts to be mixed for a minute or so) , make a rectangle about  3/4'' flat and fill the inside of your tin. 

Now stick 2 of your wooden pieces about 1/2'' from each side (it will give you 2'' ribbon  bow) and another 2 in the middle to make this 1'' bow. Let it dry with sticks inside. Now pull the sticks and your bow maker is done.

Here are some photos to show you how to make a 2'' bow. The box will use those wooden sticks storage and  you don't need to buy any fancy one (anyway, my fancy bow maker was lost  after all).

Please note that the pearl pins are just my add on to make the photos more clear, you don't need to use them during your bow making at all.

First tie the ribbon around the pegs as shown .

 Now take the left   ribbon end (the upper one) under the loop as shown.

Now move the same ribbon above  the loop as shown

This was a moment to take my pins off (as I said you don't even need them) and to make a knot with both free ribbon ends.

Pull the pegs  out of the mold and your bow is made. Trim the ends as wanted and use it as I did to embellish my bow maker box.

Now just take time to embellish your Bow Maker box.

First of all pick some ScoreTape and embellish the lid with Jute  Natural 3/8'' ribbon, cut the edges to fit the tin lid. Add some thin tape around and glue Hemp Cord from Multi Weight set. For my tin lid I used 3 layers of 3/8''width. The bottom was just perfect for one layer of Natural Crochet Lace  trim and I added the same hemp over it.

I  glued a nice flower branch over the lid (Prima) and added my pink bow I made with Swiss Dots Light Coral ribbon.

And as I said- any mold will make the job and if not- try some Paper clay  or some Polymer clay (can be baked with a tin, but don't use Microwave as the tin is metal)

Happy Birthday

  Happy Birthday Terry!!    So again, I was making a birthday card on the day before someone's birthday.  Why  is it that I just can't get it together??  I like to tell everyone that I celebrate their birthday by sitting down to create a card on that very special day.  :)  

Today is a very special RRR birthday. 
Not only is Terry my friend and my sister-in-law, but she is also the very best ribbon order fulfillment specialist that RRR ever had.  Yup, that's right, if you place an order at Really Reasonable Ribbon, it's very likely Terry is packing that order for you - and doing a really good job too, so please join me in wishing her a very Happy Birthday!!   For this card I used a new favorite color combo for me - kraft and aqua.  I printed the Happy Birthday message on my computer and layered it on some kraft cardstock and then 7/8" Tropic Grosgrain.  The side column is 1-1/2" Light Brown Jute Ribbon, 5/8" Tropic Grosgrain and Natural Jute String.  The butterfly is Wonderful Wings Grand Shapeabilites and my design papers are all from Recollections.

Romantic Valentine's Day Card

Hello Friends!! Happy Sunday!! Heather here and I have yet another Valentine's Day Creation to share with you. I used some fabby trims and Ribbons from  Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Moss leaves, Burgundy Leaves, newsprint candis, fix it foam pads, Juliet lace, peppermint baker's twine, pink crochet trim, and January Assortment ribbons and trims..finish up my card nicely!

The digital images are from Gecko Galz.

Add this to any card, with some of the leaves trims...and you are all set with a wonderful embellishment.  You can refer back up to my card to see how it looks finished.

Here are a few other cards I have made this month using RRR ribbons and trim.  I didn't want you to miss out on all my lovely RRR creations!!

I used the February Assortment of the month, yellow pom pom trim, crochet lace (inked with vintage photo), Juliet Lace, and Peppermint baker's twine.

Another Valentine Card

Lots of lovely layers on this one.  Again the images are from Gecko Galz, and I used Old Gold diamond (inked with vintage photo), Burgundy leaves, and pink crochet lace, all from RRR.

Here is an all white card...not my normal style...thank goodness for Bonnie's Wonderful assortment of white goodies...so I could make it as "Heathery" as possible. White satin double ruffle ribbon, White crochet lace, white pom pom trim, white ric rac, and white leaves. You can never have enough leaves!  . Below is a Cute Vintage Baby Card.  Again, I have a lot of yummy goodies from RRR to make my card all vintagey...and shabby! Juliet Lace, Aqua diamond ribbon, Moss leaves, Celery crochet lace, Chocolate Marshmallow Candis and Candi Fix it Foam pads. Some more up close shots. Thank you for visiting!! Accordion Pocket Tutorial

 

 

Today I'm sharing an Accordion style Pocket that holds several tags for photos. This page was designed using the Beautiful Laces, Bags, and buttons from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

 

Supplies Needed:

Crocheted Lace/Really Reasonable Ribbon

Mini Pom Pom Trim /Really Reasonable Ribbon

Scor-Tape 1/2 inch/Really Reasonable Ribbon

Buttons/Really Reasonable Ribbon

And whatever embellishments you choose. I used CottageCutz Dies, Homemade Butterfly, Feathers and Pearls to complete my page.

 

I absolutely LOVE the Crocheted Lace from Really Reasonable Ribbon and I'm in the process of collecting all the colors. On this page I used the Pink. I also used the Black Mini Pom Pom Trim, Scor-Tape, and buttons from the Strawberry pack, and Cookies & Cream pack.

 

I LOVE this accordion pocket and it's perfect for holding photos and writing on the back. You can add photos to the back of each tag or writing.
