New Faux Bow Tutorial with the Zutter Bow-it-All V3.0

Hi friends.  Today I have a new faux bow tutorial to share.  This bow is easy and it's perfect for your autumn projects because it has a bit of a rustic-type feel with the burlap string used to tie the center.  Be sure to stop by Really Reasonable Ribbon and take a look at all the wonderful Fun 4 Fall ribbon styles.

The brown ribbon I used to create this bow is 5/8" Turftan Brown Delicate Stitched Satin Ribbon 

and it's one of the styles included in the August Ribbon Club Assortment.  

This Autumn themed assortment contains 9 ribbon styles and a total of 18 yards of ribbon.  Each monthly assortment is a color or holiday themed mix of ribbons.  What a fun way to build your ribbon stash and try new ribbon styles! 

My harvest themed card was made with dies from Cheery Lynn designs.  I also love adding mulberry paper to my cards for a soft and wispy layer and the natural mulberry paper on this card works wonderfully.

The bow was created with 5/8" Turftan Brown Delicate Stitched Satin Ribbon and tied in the Middle with Natural Burlap String.

Thanks a Bunch

Karen Letchworth here today with a thought......If you're anything like me, you've probably learned over the years that you can never have enough thank you cards on hand.  There are so many times when someone does something nice where you just want to give them a card to express your gratefulness.  However, if you keep thinking about it; your apt to forget to actually send that thank you card.  So for that very reason, I like to have plenty of them on hand.  And with all the fabulous ribbons, trims and decorative flowers available at Really Reasonable Ribbon; you can always be stocked up on the perfect accessories to get them ready to go.

This card was created using some patterned paper, machine stitching, a white doily, a chipboard bird and journalling sticker, and a rub-on sentiment.  I tied a length of Peach Baker's Twine around the card twice and tied a bow with it.  This pretty peach color is so soft and subtle....GORGEOUS!  The finishing touches were all the lovely Mulberry Flowers I used to frame the image.  I used several of each of these Sweetheart Blossoms:  Wild Orchid Craft Miniature Sweetheart Blossoms in Ivory. Two-Toned Peach, Full-Sized Ivory, and the lightest shade of pink from the Pink & White Mixed Assortment.  I also tucked in a couple of the Wild Orchid Craft 30 mm Mulberry Paper Leaves, and of course I used lots of Scor-Tape to adhere everything.

Thank You card for Bonnie and the Really Reasonable Ribbon Design Team

Welcome back Really Reasonable Ribbon bloggers and this will be my last card for Really Reasonable Ribbon blog and challenges at this time. I have a grandson  born in May and I will be babysitting him from now on while my daughter returns back to work.  Therefore, I will be spending most of my time with him and very little time for awhile in my craft room until he gets about 6 months older and beginning to take good naps since now he only takes baby power naps during the day, anywhere from 10 minutes up to 40 minutes.

I want to thank Bonnie and the wonderful designers on this team for their fantastic support and I learned so much from all of you and thoroughly enjoyed our discussions. I regret leaving since I loved everything about what we did along with the super great customer service, support and care from Bonnie and the team.  It was also great working with gorgeous ribbon and flowers from the Really Reasonable Ribbon store.  I recommend RRR to anyone who loves working with ribbon and looking to be on a design team, this is a number one place to be.

Also, the bloggers who put their cards on the blogs or made a comment on my cards, I want to especially thank you for all that you do.

But back to my card.  The May Art ribbons such as the May Arts Silky Rust Red ribbon are always gorgeous on cards and projects.  I used the Zutter Bow It All bow maker to make this double layered bow and attached it with the 1" Scor-Tape.  I used the wonderful instructions by Bonnie Garby's You-Tube HERE that explains how to make a double layered double bow but just go around the pegs once instead of twice.  I added a pearl brad to the center of the bow and attached it to my card

Christmas Joy

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Hope you all are doing well. 

Today it's my turn to bring you some inspiration here at Really Reasonable Ribbon. I decided to share a Christmas card I created with some of my favorite ribbons. I know we still have a few more months for Christmas but I thought this would be a great time to start on my Christmas cards. So to get started I used the DCWV Merry Memories Stack.

For this card I used that beautiful red pleated organza sheer ribbon. 

I know you probably recognize this ribbon from past projects, 

but I just couldn't help using it again. I think I need to order some more. lol 

I only have a little strand left. I also used the White Sheer with Stitched Center Ribbon

which a beautiful ribbon and perfect for Christmas.

I think the reason I really like this ribbon is the 

beautiful color of red and being that its made of organza

it just has a lovely shimmer affect when the light hits it just right.

{judy} It's certainly an Autumn feel to the air where I live. Some of the trees were a combination of red, green and gold yesterday. I was surprised, because it has seemed to come on so quickly. From 100 last week to 73 yesterday! But I welcome it, as does this little fox!

Isn't he cute? To begin my card, I dry embossed the back panel with a forest embossing folder from Stampin' Up! On the main panel, I used a technique called Reverse Masking, and sponged in a circle of blues, followed by clouds with darker edges, using a handcut cloud stencil I have had forever.  I stamped the foliage along the bottom to "ground" my circle.

The little fox is made with a punch (Fox Builder Punch) and one little face stamp from Foxy Friends. I sat him on a stamped and fussy cut stump, and tilted his head to show his fun personality. All images are by Stampin' Up!
Everything is held together with my go-to adhesive -- 1/4" Scor-Tape.

I love the shimmer and look of organza on just about everything. It adds an ethereal look to my forest card here, while being transparent enough to still see what it behind the ribbon. I tied on a little "Blessings" charm I had, using Natural Burlap String and added two brown Mulberry Leaves (Wild Orchid) to pull the forest theme back in.

Tying Shabby Chic Bows with Seam Binding

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  I made this sympathy card for a friend of the family whose mother recently passed.  I wanted the card to be soft, elegant and very shabby chic. I find that seam binding ribbon makes the most gorgeous shabby chic bows, and is very easy to work with. I thought I'd share some shabby chic bow tying tips with you here today.

This 6x6 card used a mixed media paper from Canvas Corp brands.  The papers are all done in shades of black, grey and white which means you can custom color them.  After inking up the background, I water colored this heart image with Distress Markers.  I wanted everything to be very soft and soothing.  I laced up the center of the heart with Gold Metallic Bakers Twine. Noble Peacock Seam Binding was tied into a loose shabby chic bow, then tucked under a pair of white flowers. 

 

Tying a shabby chic bow is super easy.  I set the pegs on my Zutter Bow it All tool to be 3.5" apart.  Then I wrapped my ribbon around the pegs three times.  Before tying the knot in the center of the bow, I folded the loose ribbon end into thirds.  This helps gather the ribbon at the center.  To add the ribbon to the card, I placed a small puddle of hot glue beneath my flowers, then pushed the ribbon into place with the tips of my scissors.   Because seam binding ribbon is so soft, it folds in on itself and creates this beautiful loopy bow.  

The inside of the card is very simple.  I lightly inked the edges of my designer paper, then added a small journaling card.  This is where I will write my personal note to my friend.

Seam binding ribbon comes in a rainbow of colors, and is a dream to work with.  In addition to the colored seam binding I keep in my ribbon stash, I also have a full spool of both Cream and White Seam Binding so that I can custom color my ribbon to match any project I am making.  I'd be happy to share a tutorial for this custom dyed ribbon.  If you're interested, please let me know in the comment section below.

Halloween Banner

Hello folks...my day here on the Really Reasonable Ribbon blog.  I had so much fun making this banner.  Lots of die cut layers with foam adhesive for dimension.

 Seeing the layers and mix of patterns makes me happy! Not to mention the bright happy Halloween colors.

I can never get enough gingham either.  I used both gingham ribbon in black  and in orange.   I used the 1-1/2" width size and it makes the best big chunky bows.

I added some black sequins, clothespins, and little metal rimmed tags spelling boo.

Blessings for Christmas & Video Tutorial

 Hello everyone, and Happy Wednesday to you all! So for today's Really Reasonable Ribbon card I do have a video on both my Ribbon Bow using RRR Shimmer Satin (LOVE THIS STUFF) , and my Glass Flowers using a spray technique to get the color you see.

 So for my card base, I used black card stock, cut at 5" x 10" and then scored at 5"
Next I did my 1st layer with black card stock cut at 4 3/4" x 4 3/4", then the Bo Bunny design paper is cut at 41/2" x 4 1/2".
Next Layer 2- is cut at 4" x 4" and that is the black card stock. Now Bo Bunny dp is cut at 3/34" x 3 3/4", then added sewing in a green thread. I also added some white gel dots for a different look.

The I Brake for stamps sentiment is cut out using different spellbinders dies.

Ribbon bow is created using Really Reasonable Ribbons Beautiful Shimmer Satin in Sage Green color. LOVE LOVE LOVE this ribbon. I just bought 5 rolls of it, that is how much I love it. Also will be getting more rolls in different colors, as Bonnie does carry some really Gorgeous colors of this.

Glass Flowers are done using my Glass Flower Technique along with the spray and distress technique. Video can be seen here on my blog

Watercolor Lifting

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing details about my card for our current 
 Challenge #147 - Buttons & Bows.

I used the Watercolor Lifting Technique at Splitcoaststampers for my card. Basically, you create a watercolor wash, emboss an image with VersaMark and Clear Embossing Powder, and then remove as much color as you like with more water and a brush or rag. It's such a fun look! I made my "wash" pretty deep hued, as I knew I would be taking a lot of the color off. The embossed images hold the depth of original color.

I added some Doodlebug Sequins to my flower middles, and then created a fun pleated ribbon center using the August Ribbon Club from Really Reasonable Ribbon, as well as Green Apple Baker's Twine in the center of my button.

Joy to the World Christmas Greeting Card

Hey there Paper Peeps! Ginny here to share a really festive and fun Christmas Greeting card I created with the fabulous trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

This is the first Christmas card I have made in quite a while that does not have a vintage or retro image....but I was so inspired by the buffalo checked paper that I knew graphic pops of color would be a much better match.



This Hounds Tooth Ribbon coordinates so well and is topped of with Ivory Burlap String and a simple painted jingle bell.

Handcrafted poinsettia flower is layered with some Petaloo blooms and die cut leaves with the same red and black theme. These great little buttons and Spiral Stamens help to add detail to the corner.

A few more die cut flowers here with additional tiny White Open Roses. A die cut doily is a nice backdrop for the sentiment.

I love how dimensional this card turned out with all the layers.   Okay that's all for me, wishing all of you a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative. G

Terrific Twine

Hi there!  It's Karen Letchworth posting today.  As you may know, there are many terrific trims at Really Reasonable Ribbon, but for today; I want to just focus on one very simple trim that everyone needs in LOTS of great colors......TWINE!  Really Reasonable Ribbon carries 40 colors of Baker's Twine and an additional 15 colors of Burlap String.  These amazing trims cost no more than ten cents ($0.10) per yard.  So, not only are they colorful, versatile and super useful; but they're also SUPER affordable!

Today I'm sharing three cards that really showcase some of these wonderful twines.  My first card (above) uses Oyster Baker's Twine (currently out of stock) that I tied around the card several times and tied into a bow.  I also added a sweet little Ivory Sweetheart Blossom to the bottom of my card.

My second card (below) has a long length of Red Burlap String wrapped several times around it.  You can see how adding this one simple trim to your cards adds so much texture to your project; not to mention that perfect pop of color.  And again, with SO many great colors; you can always find the perfect shade for any project.

My third and final card today (my personal favorite) was created using some sweet patterned papers, a heart die-cut that's stitched with DMC floss, a button, sequins, a stamped sentiment, a tiny tag held with a rusty pear-shaped pin, and more fabulous twine.

This card uses both the Cotton Candy Baker's Twine and the Teal Baker's Twine.  Once again, you can see how Really Reasonable Ribbon has the PERFECT COLORS to match any project you're working on and make it truly special.  It's really the quint-essential trim that every crafter needs in a variety of colors, and Really Reasonable Ribbon can help you stock up at a great price.

Christmas with Snowman Card
