Summer Flip Flop Fun!

Hi everyone.  Can you believe it's the end of July already??  It doesn't seem possible, but we do still have another whole month of summer fun here on the east coast before school is back in swing.  Why not make a fun pair of ribbon flip flops for your favorite little girl?  This set features our July Ribbon Club assortment and today is the very last day to join the Really Reasonable Ribbon Club and get this assortment as your first shipment.

All you need to make these fun flip flops is a pair of flip flops, the July Ribbon Club Assortment or other Really Reasonable Ribbon of your choice, fray check or pinking sheers and a little all purpose glue.  I used approximately 16 yards of ribbon on the pair shown (the entire contents of the July Ribbon Club assortment), but I made the ribbons really tight together around the flip flop strap  - mainly because I got a little carried away when I was precutting pieces and had way more than I needed.  I think you could get away with 12-14 yards of ribbon and fewer pieces.  You can also conserve ribbon if you don't pre-cut the pieces and just work off the ribbon length that you have.   I do find that it goes quicker if you have the pieces pre-cut and you can just grab and tie them one after the other.

I precut my pieces at 6" each and set them up in the order that I wanted to use them.  I used a total of 8 different ribbon styles in 5/8" and 3/8" widths.  I cut a total of six 6" pieces of each style.  These are the ribbons found in the July Ribbon Club assortment.  If you made your pre-cut pieces 6" long you could make these flip flops with the contents of the montly ribbon club assortment (16 yards total).

All you need to do is take each piece of ribbon and tie it around the flip flop and double knot it.  When you are done you will need to trim each ribbon to the desired length with scissors or pinking sheers.  I cut about one inch from the knot.  If you use pinking sheers, that will minimize the fraying of the ribbon.  If you use regular scissors, I suggest using fray check on all the ribbon ends.  I also ran a length of 3/8" yellow floral satin around the base of the shoe and glued it down with Helmar Quick-Dry adhsive.

As I said before, I got a little carried away cutting strips so I thought I would try adding some to a 1/4" headband.  It's kind of cute, huh?  This is the same wrapped headband I showed for the July Blog Hop and you can find instructions on how to wrap the headband HERE.  I then just tied on several 6" ribbon pieces the same way I did for the flip flops.  Now we have a fun hair accessory to match the flop flops.  :)

Well, today is my final post as Guest Designer for the month of July and I just want to say thank you to Bonnie for inviting me to participate with such a wonderful group of ladies who are so darn creative! I have enjoyed seeing all the beautiful projects that the Design Team has made and I just

Really Reasonable Ribbon!

After painting the letters, I covered them with Prima script paper, and sanded the edges. Then the fun part, which is embellishing them! I wrapped some lavender Hemp cord, ( which is one of my new favorites! ) around the "l" and the "v", using Scor-Pal tape to adhere it. On the "l", I added a Maya Road flower with my hot glue gun.

On the "v" I added a felt  Heidi Grace butterfly which I hand sewed around the wings, and a pearl strand was glued on for the body. The antenna is a center flower accent that you can find in any florist department.

I look forward to continuing to enter in all the wonderful challenges, hope to see you there too!

Life's better in Flip Flops

Hi eveyone!  I hope you are having a great weekend!  We spend the day yesterday packing my twin things for camp.  We take them up there later today.  Everyone is a little nervous around here....including Mom, lol!
I have a cute card to show you today that's perfect for Summer.

The paper for my card is from Echo Park - Paradise Beach.  I just love flip flops and when I saw this file from Lori Whitlock, I couldn't wait to cut it out with my Cameo.  I discarded the strap and cut a very small slit in the sole of the flip flop.  I threaded two small pieces of this pretty satin starfish ribbon through the hole and secured to the back with Scor Tape. I cut a little flower with my Cameo and attached with a brad. I finished of my card with some buttons and a bow from this fabulous hemp cord.  I love this stuff....I'm working on getting every single color!

Summer Goodie Bags

Hi all...Linda here with today's project of how to use your ribbon stash to decorate summer goodie bags. For this project, I use left over ribbons from the July kit that you can purchase here. They are beautiful... Come and check it out!
There are times when I have left over ribbons that I cant have enough length to wrap around my card project; to have good use of all of them, I make a simple goodie bag and create a bow tie on top for cute accent in addition to paper flower.

Favorite Flower

My card for today was designed using Really Reasonable Ribbon's BEAUTIFUL Wrinkle Ribbon & Mid Ruffle Satin.

On my card I ran the Blue Wrinkle Ribbon down the side, and ruffled it up, then ran the Mid Ruffled Satin down the middle. Tied a bow and added some buttons, and pearls. It was super easy to do and I think makes my card! I used scor-tape to hold the ribbon down, and Helmar 450 to add my bow and buttons.

The design paper is from Webster's Pages, now that is the blue striped, the red and white polka dot is from Crafty Secrets. My darling image and sentiment are both from Victorine Originals Stamps and is colored with copics.

Next I added some buttons, I did cut off the shanks and glued them on with Helmar 450 Quick Dry. The feathers are feathers my mom gave me when i helped her with the doll show, and I LOVE using them as well!!

Beach Page!!!

Happy Hump Day everyone! It's Patti, and I apologize for getting my post up late. We've had some family issues (medical) lately and I've gotten off track, but everything is better now. I'm going to share a project today that I did using a mixture of some gorgeous ribbon and trim.
This is my sweet little cousin at the beach, and her little swimsuit was lots of fun to match ribbon to! LOL! I used some leftover scraps from several Echo Park paper collections.

Here you can see a closeup of the ribbons and trims. I layered the satin with scalloped edge pink with the diamond satin red on top first. Then made bows with the cherry baker's twine and the thin hemp twine layered on the aqua organza.

These are just closeups of a little bit of the detail of the other elements.

"WILD" about hair clippies!

Good morning to all of you!

What a wonderful day here in Texas!  I think the rain may have stopped for a minute...MAYBE...

and we may be able to head out to our local waterpark today.  YAY!

However...as implied, it has been super rainy here lately...

and I have been super busy making hair accessories for a bunch of little girlies. 

My niece is just WILD about m hair clippies, so I decided to make a set for her for her upcoming Birthday.  I LOVE the animal print ribbons that Bonnie has in the RRR Store...they are AWESOME!

SO, here is the set of clippies that I made for my niece using the ribbon and alligator clips...

RRR Goodies...

Hello my friends!  I am popping in today to share some goodies using Really Reasonable Ribbons.  My first project is a card with an envelope to tuck in a gift card for someone's birthday.  Around these parts we love Barne's and Noble's so that is what is tucked in my gift enclosure.  I used some shabby papers and digi images for my card.  I embellished it using ivory burlap ribbon which I pulled a part and wound through my little tag banner and in my buttons.  I also used seambinding in white and dyed it imperfectly with some Tim Holtz ink for a worn look.  The bottom of the card has Penelope lace to finish it off.  

My other project used my fave Middy Biddy bags .  I love to fussy these little cuties up and make tags to tuck inside.  I used some papers, doily, stamps, and a few more toppings to gussy it up.  I made flowers using the natural burlap with white and pink stripes .  I used the same technique that I shared before, simply winding the ribbon around and around.  I layered them with some chiffon flowers, pearls,and fabric.  The background of the bag uses the jute ivory ribbon ...which is my new favorite.  I topped the bag and tags off with seambinding in baby pink and bakers twine in cotton candy. 

I also used a border of pink velvet at the bottom.  Just a simple project ...but fun!  Hope you have enjoyed!  Happy Summer, cherry

Chevrons are Everywhere!

Chevrons are a hot decorating item right now and I am seeing them everywhere -- even on this awesome twill!

I used the sweet Gracee Goose from the Country Bumpkin line (Peachy Keen Stamps) on my card. I stamped her in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored her with Copic markers. If you look closely (or click on the photo), you will see she has a row of Kaiser Chino pearls that she is using to accessorize today!

The pearls, Chevron Striped Yellow Twill and Aqua Baker's Twine (in the buttons) are all available from Bonnie -- along with MANY other fabulous colors of each type of trim!
