Welcome Autumn

Hi everyone! Can you believe today is the last day of August? It has been a long and hot Summer in Kentucky and I'm glad for the cooling temperatures! Today I want to share 2 Autumn projects with you using goodies from Really Reasonable Ribbon:

For this little card I used the adorable Twill Tape in cream.  It is so easy to work with.  My supplies are Papertrey Ink Stamps, die cuts, and Cardstock, My Mind's Eye Patterned Paper, and Copics.  I simply tied the twill around the jar, making it look like part of the stamp instead of part of the card. 

Next up is a little Thanksgiving Envelope:

For the outside of my envelope I used the beautiful white Silk Ribbon from Mays Art. It adds such elegance to any project. For this project I used Maya Road Envelopes, Papertrey Ink Stamps, Die Cut, and Cardstock, and Copics.

Here's a look at the inside of my envelope:

I simply took my little envelope apart, so when it folds open it has the Thanksgiving greeting. I used the fabulous Brown Crochet Lace from Mays Art that I LOVE! It is sturdy lace easy to adhere to projects and it keeps its shape wonderfully!

Colour pop

Good morning (or afternoon for Aussies)! I'm excited to bring you another tutorial today. Even more excited, for that's my very second LO - and I think I caught the bug - yay! :) I LOVED putting my page together! Here it is:

To make a page like this, you will need the following goodies from the store:
1.5" Jute Ribbon Natural (those who are familiar with my work, certainly know that I'm such a junkie for jute/burlap lately!)
Red/White Twisted Rope
Moss 3/8" Velvet Ric-Rac
Jenni Bowlin Embellished Butterflies Brown
Watermelon Hand-Painted Buttons

You'll also need: 12x12" corrugated cardboard, Basic Grey tag, some ornamental lace trim; chipboard heart and leaf, a piece of cream mulberry paper, red rhinestones/jewels, felt flower embellishments, stapler, sewing machine, white and olive ink & assorted alphabets (mine are from American Crafts, Bella! & Jemark)

Firstly take your photo, and adhere it to a piece of mulberry paper. Do not cut the edges of the paper precisely - tear it carefully by hand. If you're unsure of the effect, help yourself with ruler.
Stitch around the edges.

Take the Basic Grey tag (mine is from the SweetPea Jack Collection), and adhere it to the upper right corner of the cardboard:

Cut two generous lengths off Jute Ribbon, and adhere as shown, one on top of another:

Put your photo on top and secure it (I recommend using a strong glue when working with jute, it can be quite fiddly. A strong double-sided tape works well too):

Arrange your letters in the lower left corner of the page:

Staple two pieces of Velvet Ric-Rac below the letters. I made mine overlap a bit:

Cut a length of Twisted Rope, and arrange it on the page as shown. Staple to the base on both ends, and secure the loop with glue.

Ink up the edges of chipboard flowers and adhere to the left of the sentiment:

Arrange felt flowers around it freely:

Add some doodling to the visible parts, with a white gel pen:

Add journalling to the tag, embellish with Hand-Made Buttons & chipboard heart

Find some lace with 'frilly' edge, and put over the head, to resemble the crown. Embellish with jewels:

Add Jenni Bowlin butterfly:

Distress the edges with white ink, rubbing the pad directly against the paper:

...and voila! You're all done :)

Who's that Girl???

Hey there everyone. It's me Erika. Remember me? I'm still here and I'm absolutely loving all the new products that are available in the Really Reasonable Ribbon Store. Have you seen the new Helmar Adhesive? I've got a couple of projects to share with you today using some beautiful ribbon and Helmar. Sit back and enjoy.

So many of you have been wanting to see ideas using ribbon on scrapbook pages. For this layout, I used the 1 1/4" Black Silk Ribbon. First I adhered it to the backside of the layout using the Helmar Adhesive Runner. This stuff works wonderfully on ribbons and trim. Then at 1 1/2" intervals, I twisted the ribbon and adhered the "twist" to the layout using the Helmar adhesive runner again. It really gives that little bit of dimension.

Notice all the flowers, chipboard and cutouts on the layout? All adhered using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots. if you love having dimension on your projects ladies and gents, this stuff will BLOW YOUR MIND!!! you get to be the judge on what height of dimension you want. I can't tell you how much I love this stuff. Try it, and you will too.

Next I have a little card that I've created using the Stitched Edge Reversible Burgundy/Gold 3/8" ribbon. Such a simple piece of ribbon, but when you add a few pearls, not so plain jane.

Again I used the Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner for the ribbon and all of the layers of paper. Can you guess how I got all the different layers of dimension? If you guessed Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots, you are right on the money. For $5.49, you are going to find adhesive HEAVEN in a tube I tell ya.

Make a Beautiful Journal for Pennies!

 

Hello All!

True :D here... 'cause it is Saturday! My turn to post! Woohoo!

My project for today is taking advantage of the back to school specials that are going on right now. I picked up some composition books for a quarter a piece at our local Wal-mart store.

By adding some stash paper, some beautiful ribbon and some scor-tape, I created this!

The designer paper is from DCWV "Rustic" stack.

That beautiful ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon. It is their Brown Wrinkled Ribbon.

Butterfly stamps and punch are by Martha Stewart.

I printed the word "JOURNAL" out with my printer.

Bow'd Over!

Happy Friday everyone!!  Any big plans this weekend?  We have a new puppy, so most of our plans include staying at home.  You know.  We have to take her outside every couple of hours or so!  It has been crazy for me getting all my assignments in.  My mojo is on the downside as well.  :(  Saying that, I know this layout is just sort of ho-hum.  I hope you like the idea behind it though.  You can see I added little bows along the edge of the scallop die-cut.  You could easily do this as well on your layouts or cards.  All I did was punch holes in sets of twos all down the side.  Then I threaded ribbon through the holes and tied little bows.  You can find this ribbon and more just like it in the Really Reasonable Ribbon store HERE.

Eden with Teddy

Today, I have a cute card to share with you, using Eden with Teddy, from Belles n Whistles. I colored her with copics. I added tons of gorgeous ribbons from Really Reasonable Ribbons. Bonnie just keeps adding more and more goodies that I fall in love with.First, I layered sheer ruffle edge Old Gold on the bottom, and added stitched edge reversible burgandy/gold over the top. I love the elegant ribbon treatment that this created. Then to finish it off, I tied lovely bows using the Lingerie hand dyed silk.Thanks for looking!

Son’s Birthday Card

Good Morning and Happy Wednesday to Everyone!  Today I wanted to show a card I created for my son, Travis.  Last week Wednesday was his 20th birthday.  I was unable to send him his card since he was still deployed in Afghanistan and was due back into the states.  As of Monday he has left Afghanistan is on his way back home to California.  Unfortunately, I will not be seeing him until he takes his leave in September.

For his card I decoupage a motorcycle image.  I used Black Jute String to weave around silver brads and 3/8” Gingham Orange Multi Grosgrain Ribbon underneath the jute string. 

Here is my card:

Image:  Motorcycle – Decoupage from The Lilac Garden (Decoupage by Audrey).

Sentiment:  Happy Birthday sentiment (Digital Delights by Louby Lou).

Card Stock:  Orange and black (TAC), Black and Orange Flame and HD Bar Front (Harley Davidson).

Embellishments:  Silver Brads,  Black Jute String and 3/8” Gingham Orange Multi Grosgrain (all ribbons are from Really Reasonable Ribbon).

Autumn Is In The Air....

Hi everyone!  Today I want to share a couple of cards with you.  Autumn is definitely around the corner and there's no better time to start adding to your ribbon stash.  Really Reasonable Ribbon has so many ribbons perfect for this time of year.  Here is an example of a spooky card using RRR ribbon:

I used the beautiful Gingham Orange Multi Ribbon by May Arts and available at RRR. 

Here's another "Fall" card I made using ribbon from August's Ribbon Club Assortment:

I used bright Autumn colors for this card and the splash of blue ribbon adds character.  I kept the edges of my paper rough so it would look slightly distressed.

Funky ribbon flowers

Hello! It's time for my regular posting, and this time I concentrated on showing some fun ways to create flowers with ribbon.
Here's my card:

Supplies: paper: October Afternoon; banner sticker: Sassafras Lass; ticket: Pink Paislee; chipboard hearts: Lil' Davis Designs; ribbon & burlap available in the RRR store; buttons; string; rhinestone: Kaisercraft; resin bee

I used several kinds of ribbon to create the flowers: Swiss Dots Grosgrain Tan w/Brown & Gingham Bright Pink Micro for the stems, and Double Ruffles White & 7/8'' Red Gingham for the blooms. I also added some Jute Ribbon in Slate, to create a grass.

Jute Ribbon is the BEST!!!!

A very happy Sunday to all of you Really Reasonable Ribbon lovers...because I am one also! I could look through that virtual catalog for hours and want EVERYTHING!!!!! I am telling you, Bonnie has the most magnificent selection of ribbons that I have ever encountered in all of Cyberia and her customer service is unsurpassed!!!! Gosh, I can't believe the selection of so many beautiful ribbons, trims, embellies......sigh...makes me think I need to go back to work!!!! LOL



I wanted to share with all of you my DT Sample Card for Just Magnolia this week because I used a type of ribbon that I had never used before and I am so impressed with the quality of the ribbon, the fact that it can be used in so many ways, and the body of the ribbon. It is the 5/8" Jute Ribbon in Lime...but of course the same ribbon is available in ORANGE ,NATURAL, TERRA COTTA, and HUNTER...How wonderful some of these will be for Halloween cards!!!! It certainly made a wonderful waistband for my little apron as well as give me much flexibility and depth on the inside of my card...I love this stuff!!!!!!



I am also showing you the inside of my card so you can see the wonderful use of this ribbon, giving so much texture and color.

Ribbon Heart Video Tutorial by: True :D

Hello and HAPPY SATURDAY!

A couple of weeks ago, I did a card with a ribbon heart on it and got quite a few emails and comments asking how I did it. I worked up a quick little tutorial to show you how. It is quite simple actually and a wonderful way to use up some of those stash scraps!

The ribbons and supplies I used are all from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

They are:

Swiss Dots Sunflower grosgrain

Swiss Dots Apple grosgrain

Shocking Pink grosgrain

Tiny Butterfly White Multi grosgrain

Dots and Stripes Lime grosgrain

Delicate Flowers grosgrain

Butterfly Lime grosgrain

Flowers on Yellow Satin

China Doll Hand-dyed Silk

Scor-tape

Ruffles Anyone?

OK, as much I would really love some Ruffles potato chips (maybe with some French Dip?) right now, I am actually referring to "ruffled ribbon". Guess what? Surprise, surprise.... yes, I am using some of my "favorite" ribbons again! I know. I really can't help it. I am just drawn to the ginghams and dots. This red gingham just seemed perfect with these Nikki Sivils papers and photos from Disneyland. Also, you can find this fabulous ribbon HERE in the store. 

  Here is a short tutorial on how to make the ruffled ribbon using a stapler:  Step One  Take your length of ribbon - fold over a small section and staple.

Step Two
Fold over another section next to your previous stapled section and staple again.

Step Three

Now you are going to fold over the "opposite" side of the ribbon. Don't worry. This sounds more difficult than it actually is. I will show you a finished length, so you will see what I am talking about.

Step Four
Next you will make another fold and staple on the "opposite" side to match your previous fold and staple.

Step Five
Continue this - alternating which direction your fold lie and staple. You should come up with something that looks like this:

Hopefully, you can see by the photo how it alternates. Here is a another photo of how it looks complete. You can easily use this on a circular layout, as it naturally curves. You can also use it in a straight line as I did on my layout.
