Grateful Hearts

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  It's Kathy here with a sweet Autumn themed card made with the August Ribbon Club Assortment and lovely burlap string.  Fall is the perfect time to add a little rustic texture to your card creations, and burlap string is the perfect way to do it!

Here are some quick and easy tips for making this 5x7 top fold card:

• First, build your card front separate from the card base.  This way, you can wrap your ribbon and string around the front panel.  Once the card front is complete, you can adhere it to the card base.
• Next, add a pop of pattern, color and design with a Hedgehog and Pumpkins Satin Ribbon Border.  Secure this near the base of the card front with 1/4" Scor-Tape.  Leave the cut ends long so you can wrap them around the sides for a nice, neat finish. 
• Wrap the left hand side of the card with Antique Gold and Brown Burlap String. Leave the ends long enough that you can tie on some cute tea themed charms and tie a bow.
• Create a bow cluster with Mixed Earth Tone Magnolias , Trellis Roses, and a burlap string bow. I just love the rustic texture this adds to the card.

You have to tuck a tea bag into a tea themed card, right?  So I created a little tea wallet and tag for the pocket inside this card.  The Antique Gold and Brown Burlap String look great on that little tag, don't they?

As summer winds down, I love breaking out my fall papers, ribbons and embellishments.  The changing of the seasons is always a nice change of pace.  Have you been creating any fun fall projects?  I'd love to hear about them!

Art Journal

My newest art journal is capturing my growth as an artist.  For years I have enjoyed all kinds of creativity, starting with cross stitch and then scrapbooking.  For several years now I have ventured into creating art journals, sketching and watercoloring.

Through online classes, to artist retreats and in-person art classes, I have enjoyed learning new techniques and meeting other creatives.

I love adding a little softness to this page by using beautiful ribbons by Really Reasonable Ribbon.  

Two of my favorites is the Sheer Antique Gold  and Antique Gold Burlap String.  I layered them on top of a burlap leave and added buttons.  

I hope this inspires you to start documenting your artistic adventures!

From Our Kitchen to Yours

There is something special about giving a thoughtful gift of baked goods.  It is like giving a piece of yourself.  Why not make that gift extra special by adding a creative container to hold those homebaked goodies?

It was easy by easing a vintage berry basket and ribbons and lace from Really Reasonable Ribbons.  

I wrapped the Sheer Iridescent Antique Gold Ribbon around the container, then tied a pretty bow, tucking a bow under the ribbon made out of the Antique Gold Burlap String.

I then added the Chloe Natural Crochet Lace around the top of the basket.

Then I tuck in a tag and filled up the container with some yummy homemade chocolate chip cookies.  It was so easy to create this cute container to give as a gift.  Looking forward to creating a few more to have on hand when a special gift is needed.

Keep Moving Forward

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  I have an inspirational card to share with you today. Daily life is filled with obstacles and challenges both great and small.  But if we will just keep moving forward, we will achieve our goals.  The climb is often steep, but the view from the top is mighty sweet!  With this in mind, I created a layered get well card for a friend who is facing some tough hills to climb.  I used Graphic 45's World Fair collection and fabby ribbons, of course, because no project is complete without ribbon!

 I love the punchy colors of this collection, and was thrilled to find goodies in the RRR store that matched so well.  These gorgeous yellow trellis roses were lightly sponged with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and then clustered with frilly Cosmos Daisies and some sparkly gold spiral stamens.

Sometimes, burlap string is the perfect ribbon choice!  These flower clusters were so bodacious, I didn't want to try to compete with them.  But the card needed some sort of ribbon element to tie things together.  (Groan..what a terrible pun!)  I selected navy, antique gold, and orange burlap string as a complement to these fancy flowers.  I tied the bow on my Zutter Bow-it-All and then used the tip of my scissors to tuck the bow in under the floral cluster.

I did the same thing on the fold of the card, and I love the way this simple string bow anchors those flowers to the card.

The inside of the card is loaded with fun surprises.

This pocket has lots of goodies tucked inside.  I added dimension to my fussy cut hot air balloons by layering them with foam pads. And a touch of natural burlap string makes that chipboard button stand out in the crowd.

I threaded my vintage buttons with yellow burlap string, just for fun!
