More Victorian Calling Cards with Really Reasonable Ribbon and Polly's Paper

Hello, Friends! As promised, I'm back with another trio of all occasion cards featuring Really Reasonable Ribbon and Victorian Calling Cards from Polly's Paper Etsy shop. I used Polly's Victorian Trading Card All Occasion Cards Creativity Kit and loads of my favorite ribbons to make these soft, feminine cards.

Sympathy cards are often the hardest cards we have to make. So I've used soft colors and delicate ribbon on this card. The cutaway card base is embossed, inked and then brushed with Picket Fence Distress Paint to give it a very soft, shabby feel. I lined the card at both the edge and at the fold with a strip of light, airy Lavender Dots Organza.

A simple white satin bow was topped with a double layer bow made with the same ribbon. A delicate lavender cosmos daisy finishes off the bow treatment.

I like to take a little extra time with my sympathy cards, so I finished the inside of this one with more papers from the kit, more embossing and whitewashing, a stamped sentiment and double rows of that lovely lavender ribbon.

This birthday card makes me think of Paris. I don't know why...perhaps it's the touches of gold. I spritzed the papers, image and doily with my homemade gold mist. That glorious bow is made with Variegated Gold Ribbon...which is so luxurious and shimmery....and on SALE! Honestly, the luster and shine of this ribbon cannot be rivaled. I tied that big, loopy bow with the aid of my Bow-it-All Tool, of course.

To add some extra texture, I made a rustic multi-loop bow using a double strand of natural burlap string. That bold pink button is from my stash.

I layered papers, tags and ephemera from the kit on the inside of the card, along with a hand written sentiment. The tag is topped with natural jute string that I frayed with a craft pick after adding to the tag.



This final card is so cheery and bright that you feel better just looking at it. After joining two of the papers from the kit together with stitching, I used some ribbon scraps to create little flag elements beneath the card focal. A sunny bow made with Yellow Gold Diamond Satin ribbon ties all the elements together perfectly.



The rhinestones and stick pins are from my goodie drawer, and the loopy burlap string bow is made with light blue and navy burlap string. Adding a few dark elements like the button, navy twine and brown rhinestones really anchors the card.



The inside is finished very simply with a strip of paper from the kit and stamped sentiment.

I hope you were introduced to some new ribbons today, and learned some of my tips for using ribbon to add the finishing touch to a card. To me, no card is finished until you add ribbon or trim!
