Keep Moving Forward

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  I have an inspirational card to share with you today. Daily life is filled with obstacles and challenges both great and small.  But if we will just keep moving forward, we will achieve our goals.  The climb is often steep, but the view from the top is mighty sweet!  With this in mind, I created a layered get well card for a friend who is facing some tough hills to climb.  I used Graphic 45's World Fair collection and fabby ribbons, of course, because no project is complete without ribbon!
I love the punchy colors of this collection, and was thrilled to find goodies in the RRR store that matched so well.  These gorgeous yellow trellis roses were lightly sponged with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and then clustered with frilly Cosmos Daisies and some sparkly gold spiral stamens.
Sometimes, burlap string is the perfect ribbon choice!  These flower clusters were so bodacious, I didn't want to try to compete with them.  But the card needed some sort of ribbon element to tie things together.  (Groan..what a terrible pun!)  I selected navy, antique gold, and orange burlap string as a complement to these fancy flowers.  I tied the bow on my Zutter Bow-it-All and then used the tip of my scissors to tuck the bow in under the floral cluster.
I did the same thing on the fold of the card, and I love the way this simple string bow anchors those flowers to the card.
The inside of the card is loaded with fun surprises.
This pocket has lots of goodies tucked inside.  I added dimension to my fussy cut hot air balloons by layering them with foam pads. And a touch of natural burlap string makes that chipboard button stand out in the crowd.

I threaded my vintage buttons with yellow burlap string, just for fun!

And speaking of moving forward, it's time for me to do just that!  I hope you were inspired with today's post!

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Star by Jenn Cochran

Hi Really Reasonable Ribbon friends and fans!  It's Jenn and I am so not ready for Christmas.  Are you???  I know it is coming fast and I need to get my mind set and ready to go.

I wanted to give this fun star wreath a try.  It was super easy and only took about 15 minutes.  I paired the wreath with a beautiful delicate stitched satin ribbon.  I will run down the instructions below.

I used a 1" size star die.  I cut out 8 of each patterned paper to be on the safe side but only used 7 of each.  I cut out a 2.5" circle and cut out the middle to make a ring.  I added CANDi Fix Foam Pads (found at RRR) to the backs of each star.  I arranged them and then took the foam pad backings off one at a time and adhered it to the ring.  Voila, a star wreath!  Hope you will try it!

I used Delicate Stitched Satin in Kiwi and tied a simple knot.  It was the perfect color of green to go with the swiss dot green patterned paper.

Do you make your own Christmas Cards or do you opt for the ever popular photo cards?  I personally do the photo cards.  This year I will do the same, just making them myself.

Thanks for taking a peek.  Hope you try one of these simple wreaths on your next Christmas Card.

Shabby Chic Perpetual Calendar

Hello Friends!!
Heather here and today I would like to share with you a Perpetual Calendar that I created using Gina's Chipboard and some fabby ribbons and trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

I used some digital papers that I designed to cover all of the pieces.  I covered all the insides of the base with paper.  Then glued it together, and then applied paper to the outside. Trim excess paper with an x-acto knife.  I glued Chloe Lace to just the top edges (please refer to photo below).

I used embossing medium and tinsel gold to emboss all the corners and the and edges of the base.

I also embossed the words and base part of the label.  I covered one side of each of the tags with one of my digital papers as you can see below.  Then I trimmed the edges with an x-acto knife.  Then I applied paper to the other side, trimmed them and then inked the edges with Frayed Burlap.  I applied paper to my label top in the same manner, and then the base was embossed.  On the back of the label base I added some Candi Fix it Foam Tabs.

Here is a look at the tags finished below.  I used Juliet LaceMoss green LeavesCotton Candy Baker's Twine,  Deep Ivory Mulberry Roses, and Baby Pink Mulberry Roses,

I added Juliet Lace and Cotton Candy Baker's twine as well as a button with a cotton candy bow to my number pieces.  Martha's yard, Fauna, and Cheeky Pink Glitters were used on the edges of all of my pieces.

Here is a look at it from the side.  I used the Corners which I embossed on both sides of my Calendar base.  The Bow it All tool was used with Pink Salmon Seam Binding to create the double bow on the front.

I have not decided yet on the words that I will be using on the front, so I left it blank for now.
Thank you for visiting Really Reasonable Ribbon today!!
Hugs!!

Fancy Pocket "Happy Holidays"

Hello everyone, today I am sharing a super fun Fancy Double Holiday Pocket with 2 tags that I made for Really Reasonable Ribbon using different ribbons and laces. There are 2 tags and room for a gift card to go inside the confectionery bag that is on the front of this.

I made my pocket using a piece of 4 1/2" x 11 white cardstock, folded in half to make it measure
 4 1/2" x 5 1/2.
Then I used Scor-Tape on just the sides to close it. Next I  covered the front with dp, and then cut the the Half Circle off the middle of the top.  That way the bow could sit there.

I cut my confectionery pocket with a coordinating design paper from the same stack, then used the Mini Pom Pom Trim along the bottom and top of that pocket. I used Camille Lace along the bottom of my large pocket, and the Netting and Seam Binding to create my bow.  I had a lot of fun creating this Holiday Double Pocket.

Happiness is . . .

Hi, it's Tracey here to share the anniversary card I created for my husband, Gary, featuring a variety of natural, masculine ribbons from the Really Reasonable Ribbon Store. We are celebrating 31years in a few days.

"Happiness is . . . Being with you"

Really Reasonable Ribbon Products:

Tips and Techniques:

Pleated Ribbon ~ The May Arts Burlap Wired Ribbon is a dream to work with and pleat. I've included a tutorial to create this pleated ribbon below.

Layered and Wrapped Ribbons ~ I layered four of Bonnie's fabulous natural ribbons starting with the Natural Jute Ribbon topped by Wired Pleated Burlap Ribbon, then 5/8" Jute Ribbon, and finally wrapped with white Bamboo Cording.

Twine Flower ~ Who says you can't use flowers on a masculine project? This one is created with 20lb Natural Hemp Cord using my Twine Flower Tutorial found here. I topped it with a button from the Natural Button Grab Bag. There is such a nice variety of buttons in the grab bags!

Leaves ~ I trimmed several small sections of May Arts White Leaves and tucked around my flower.

Pleated Burlap Wired Ribbon Tutorial

Supplies:
Ruler
Pencil

To determine the length of ribbon needed, each 1 inch pleat takes 2 inches of ribbon with an extra ½ inch on each end, so the 6 inch section of pleated ribbon on my card required 13 inches of wired burlap ribbon. You can work directly off your roll of ribbon, so there is no need to cut until your pleating is completed, but this guide will help you assure that you have enough ribbon for your project.

Step 1. On the back of your ribbon, make a small pencil mark at 1.5 inches from the end, then ½ inch from that mark, then repeat across the length of your ribbon. Your pattern will be 1.5 inches, ½ inch, 1.5 inches, ½ inch, 1.5 inches, ½ inch etc . .

Step 2. Fold the end of the ribbon at the first 1.5 inch mark towards the back with wrong sides together.

Step 3.  At the next mark, ½ inch further into the ribbon fold in the opposite direction this time with right sides together to create your first pleat.

Here’s what it should look like from the top side:

Here’s a side view so you can see the direction of the folds:

Step 4. Fold again on the next mark 1.5 inches further into the ribbon with wrong sides together.

Here’s a view from the back side after this fold:

Step 5. Fold again on the next mark ½ inch further into the ribbon with right sides together.

Here’s a view from the top of the ribbon after the fold.

And a side view:

Step 6. Continue to repeat these folds until you get the length of pleated ribbon required for your project:

Note, I have shown the side view with the folds slightly open so you can see the direction of the folds. You will actually pinch the wired ribbon so it lays flat:

The wired ribbon holds the pleats well, but I tucked a piece of Scor-Tape in the fabric layers to hold the pleats in place before adhering to my card with more Score-Tape

Be sure to stop by the Really Reasonable Ribbon Store to check out Bonnie's amazing selection of ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you've been inspired to create a masculine card for a special guy in your life.

~ Blessings ~

Celebrate with a Feminine Birthday Card

It's Tracey here to share a card with you. Birthdays are such a wonderful time to celebrate the special people in our lives. I created this card for one of our daughters who's favorite color just happens to be purple. It features fabulous ribbon and embellishments from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Really Reasonable Ribbon Products:

Tips and Techniques:

Dyed Ribbons ~ As you probably know, I like to dye and color my ribbons to coordinate with my papers and other embellishments. Here I dyed the White Wrinkled Ribbon with Alcohol Ink, then once dry, I decided I wanted a deeper purple and mottled colors. I rubbed Distress Ink on a craft mat, misted with water, then I pulled and scrunched the ribbon into the ink. Oooh la la, I love the dimension and texture this added to the color in my ribbon. I also colored the bright green ribbon from the July Ribbon Club Assortment by spritzing it with a golden brown glimmer mist, then inking the edges with purple. Another amazing transformation. You can find my Dying Ribbon with Alcohol Ink Tutorial here

Four Loop Ribbon Bow ~ I used a variation on Ginny's double loop bow to create this bow with my now colored Wrinkled Ribbon. Instead of using my fingers I used something I had on hand - the handles of my pliers. :-) You can find Ginny's Double Loop Bow Tutorial here

Bead Loops ~ These are so easy to create!! I snipped off short lengths of Bonnie's Pearlized String Beads, then formed a loop - kind of in the shape of a daisy petal with the two ends side by side. I crushed off the bottom bead on each side (with pliers) and glued the strings together. An easy way to add a nice touch of bling to any flower cluster.

Handcrafted Flower ~ I used Spellbinders Spiral Blossom One to create this lovely rolled paper flower.

Be sure to stop by the Really Reasonable Ribbon Store to check out Bonnie's amazing selection of ribbons, laces and other goodies.

Vintage Christmas Snowflake Ornament

Happy Wednesday Friends!!
This is Heather with my First RRR post!!

I am so excited to be joining the talented Design Team here at Really Reasonable Ribbon!

For my first project I would like to share with you this fabulously trimmed
Vintage Snowflake Ornament!
I used all kinds of lovely trims and ribbons from RRR.
These are some of my favorites, so you will see them on many of my creations!!
Moss green leaves, mini yellow pom poms, Sheer Iridescent champagne ribbon,  Peppermint baker's twine, and curly sparkling white trim really give my ornament that Vintage look!
Here are some close ups.
I created the ornament using a collage sheet I designed for
Gecko Galz
Below you will see where I trimmed the leaves to give them more of a "holly leaf" appearance.  I also used the Candi Fix Foam Pads to add some dimension to my ornament.
How about a look at the back?  Those of you who know me, know that I have a little disorder that compels me to have the backs of my creations look good too.
I just love how the Sparkling trim and Ranger's Barn door stickles really adds to the vintage Christmas look!  When this is on one of my trees, it will catch and reflect the light beautifully!!
Yummy Peppermint Baker's Twine and Leaves give my vintage buttons some warm hugs!
Okay, now that I have you in the "Holiday creating mood."  Grab a mug of  hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and peppermint sprinkles and enjoy my Tutorial on how to create your own Vintage Snow Flake ornaments!
I will apologize in advance for the length :0)
I get a little carried away sometimes!!
