Street Party Scrapbook Layout

 Hello all my fellow ribbon lovers and Happy Monday!  Misty (@Mommyofkidz) here today, and before I share my project, I have a question for you.  

What is your favorite thing to do with your ribbon? 

The answer is easy for me. I LOVE to make boutique style hair bows. However, I also very much love to scrapbook, and I almost always use ribbon, twine, or lace on my layouts. I have one more question, then I will share...lol.  I know, I know...it is way too early on a Monday for all this! (ha ha)

What type of ribbon craft would you like to see more of on the blog?

Ok, now that we have played "20 questions", I will share! :) (Two...Twenty...who's counting!!?? :)  Anyway, today I am sharing a layout with you featuring some 4th of July Festivities. 

I did this as part of a Progressive Challenge that I participated in recently, so it is just a bit different than my normal style, but I am in love with how this turned out! I used several bits and pieces from the Really Reasonable Ribbon Store on this....

There were four steps to the Progressive Challenge, and as I was building this layout, I had no clue what the next step would be. Ultimately, one could end up with a jumbled mess, or something amazing.  I got lucky that my layout turned out to be something that I love! 

I began with the ribbon on the bottom title strip, which I pleated so that it could be seen better. The 5/8 Red Poppy Satin Ribbon was a perfect match to the vintage paper that I chose to start my layout with. 

I also used some jute string which I LOVE and use on quite a lot of my projects.  While I have used the natural color, I do have it in several other colors that can be found in the Really Reasonable Ribbon store. 

Peep all the mulberry roses that I have used! Y'all, I can not tell you enough how addicted to these things I am! I don't know if I have every color yet, but my stash has certainly grown! I used the 10mm open roses on this layout in red, white, and blue obviously. 

While I had no clue how this would turn out when I began, I fell in love with each step along the way. Part of the reason that I love it so much is the "eye candy" that I was able to add to enhance the overall "vibe" of the layout. Most of which came from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

I certainly hope that you have gained some inspiration today, and I also hope that you will leave a comment for me answering my questions that I began with today. I genuinely would LOVE to know!!

Hello everyone, Cheryl here with a Male Happy Birthday card for Really Reasonable Ribbon using the Beautiful Black 2.5 Jute Ribbon and Sheer Crosshatch Grey

I wanted to use my 2.5 Black jute and thought it would be perfect on this card here. I LOVE this stuff, its perfect for a border, and I think will be even more perfect for a pocket in a mini album. I also used the 1.5"Black netting behind the sheer Crosshatch Grey ribbon.

Just for You!

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I hope everyone is having a great week!  I have a cute little gift bag to show you guys today.  

I cut this cute gift bag on my Cameo from some My Mind's Eye paper.  The box is designed with slots to feed the ribbon through.  I added this beautiful satin horizontal stripe ribbon in teal. I love this ribbon....it's some of my favorites!   I need to keep this one on hand in every color.   I trimmed a piece of a doily to fit in the corner and added some buttons from my stash.  The little jute bow is from this set.

Great ideas with baker's twine and jute - Erin Reed GDT

My name is Erin Reed and I was thrilled to be the GDT for RRR, it made my month!!  When I saw the selection they had on the baker's twine and all the colors and width's of their jute I had to have it all.  I think I got every color they had in both of these types of trim!!

 For this first LO I used the 1.5" jute ribbon in the natural color.  I used it as a "peak-a-boo" under my paper and also as a trim under the mat of my photo. The pic is of my youngest son.  I loved the way his eyes looked in this picture, so I had to scrap it.  I love flowers and swirls, but to add a masculine touch I love the look of the "burlap" jute peaking out to rough the LO up a bit. 

 This is really easy to do, and i hope you try it out!! 1. Either cut your ribbon in half or leave it intact.   It depends on how much of it will show peaking out under the paper.  I used it both ways

 2. Fold back sections of you paper to create a "V" or a "peak-a-boo" opening on your project

 3. Tape your ribbon to the background paper with regular clear tape.  Be sure to put the tape low enough so it does not show through in your "peak-a-boo" opening.  You can see here I did not use the ribbon all the way around the LO, I just placed it where it would peak out from under the paper.  To do this I had to line it up under the top paper before gluing it down, then tape the ribbon.

 4.  Glue the top layer of paper over your ribbon. so just a little peaks out from under your pulled back "V" or "peak-a-boo" sections. It really gives a fun frayed or rough look to a project.

For this next LO I used the a different jute ribbon, the 5/8" ribbon in natural color as a layered trim at the bottom of the LO.  I also used the red baker's twine in the center of the buttons. 

 To help match the colors of the baker's twine better to the LO, I used a little bit of light brown ink to color the white of the twine to a light brown color.  I then frayed the ends of the twine after tying the knot on the button.

 In my last LO I used 3 different colors of baker's twine (red, blue, and yellow) as bows on top or underneath the buttons, to hold two buttons together, or to wrap a cut out circle. The twine really added a fun finished look on the all the circles in this page.

Puffy Ribbon Technique

Hello, It's Connie again! I have a super quick and easy ribbon technique for you today! I was not sure what it is called so I decided on the puffy ribbon technique. If you have a better name, or know what it is called, please let me know! LOL!! Here I have used some 1.5" brown wrinkled satin ribbon, and some jute string. I took some small pieces of twine, and tied it around the wrinkled satin ribbon about an inch apart to give it the "puffy" portions of the ribbon treatment!

This wonderful Dahlia image will be released from Our Daily Bread Designs June 1st! I stamped it four times, colored each image with copics and cut out each layer to
give it some dimension! The base of the card was stamped with the Crocheted background stamp (which will also be released June 1st) in early espresso and sponged with crumb cake ink. The wonderful DP is from Prima, and this sketch is from this week's Mojo Monday sketch!

from ribbon to fabric...

Andrea here...Let's take some ribbon and turn it into some fabric with a little basket weaving, fabric stiffener and your favorite die cut shape. I love finding new techniques and products when it comes to fabric and ribbon. After using stiffener on several fabric projects I thought...why not use it on ribbon. So here we go in just a few simple steps.
I used light blue seam binding and pink jute string for this project.

1. Begin with several pieces of ribbon, cut approximately the same size and enough for the die cut you will be using.2. Combine fabric stiffener and a little water in a small container and mix well.

3. Submerge each piece in the mixture, run fingers along to remove excess and begin a basket weaving technique. Make sure to assemble this on wax paper or a plastic sheet/bag for easy removal once dry and to protect other surfaces.4. Allow to completely dry then die cut into desired shape. A Masculine Card with Ribbon?

What the heck right?

First of all let me introduce myself. My name is Corry Smyrski & I was asked by Bonnie to 'pinch hit' today at the Really Reasonable Ribbon's Ramblings Blog! Of course I nearly flipped outta my crafting chair (OK, arm chair....but crafting chair makes me sound so much more busy-lol) when she asked me to whip something up! I am truly honored!

The card I have for you today is a card I posted on my blog yesterday for a very special blog hop card drive! Please pop over to my blog for the details. It is a Thanksgiving card for a man! Yup, a man. They simply don't get enough credit out here in the card world. I have used a couple of VASTLY different ribbons from the Really Reasonable Ribbon website.The off-white Jute ribbon is a recent purchase & when I saw it in the RRR store I knew I HAD to have it (& all the other colors offered-haha)And the shimmery Satin Apple green ribbon is part of my RRR Monthly Ribbon Club Assortment.The thing I love about the ribbon club assortment packs is that you get so many different ribbons all at once....rather than buying 8 yards of ONE TYPE at your local store.Keep that in mind if you want more of a variety in your ribbon drawer.

If I Could Change 1 Thing

Hi Everyone and happy Sunday to all of you. Today I've got a really rustic layout to share with you, using the 1.5" Jute Natural ribbon. This layout was for a recent contest I was in and our task was to create a layout about changing 1 thing.

I actually took a few of the top and bottom strings off of the Jute ribbon (on the top piece) and love how it changed the width, but didn't change the look.

Adding some wood beads and paint gave it that finished feel. The alpha letters are applied to the layout using Helmar Liquid Scrapdots. The photos were given dimension using Helmar 1/2" round Zapdots and all of the paper layers are adhered using Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner.

Try your hand at an earthy layout by adding Jute Ribbon to it. Adhere pieces using Liquid Scrapdots to really control how much dimension YOU want. Grab a tube of this magic today. You are going to love it!!!

Wine Jute Ribbon and Moss Green w/White Stitched Edge Grosgrain Ribbon

Hello Everyone!

I was finally able to create a card using some of the really fun new jute ribbon. I love how easy it is to use and the effect you get from this type of ribbon. The ribbon comes in 5 spectacular solid colors (Natural, Orange, Wine, Spring Green and Hunter) and 2 stripe colors (Green/Pink and Turquoise/White).

I also used Moss Green w/White Stitched Edge Grosgrain ribbon. This ribbon comes in many various colors and styles of Stitched Edges. The combining of both ribbons gave my card even more of a country feel than I was hoping to accomplished to go with the farm scene images.

New Jute Ribbon in Stripes and Solids

Hi everyone.


I have a great card today made by Debbie Littlejohn. She uses our new Pink/Green Jute Stripe ribbon and it adds such a nice touch to her card. The ribbon goes perfectly with the patterned paper. We have 2 wide jute stripe ribbons, and five new 5/8" solid jute ribbons. They add great texture to any project.

I'm also pleased to announce that we are now carrying embellishments on our website. We have some great offerings from Creative Charms and we will be adding more in the coming weeks. Come on over and take a look!
