Mixed Media "Beehive" Card Tutorial

Hello there!  Vivian here with a tutorial for you sharing a few, fun mixed media techniques that went into making my "Beehive Card," part of a series of projects I've recently made to honor Earth Day.

To start, I blended distress ink on a square piece of white cardstock.

Then I incorporated a technique I've been using lately on all my projects - plastic wrap + media.  In this case, I spritzed my background with a few mists and immediately scrunched up a piece of plastic wrap on top and set the paper aside to dry.

Then, I altered some chipboard hexies with the media you see in the pic.

For additional textural punch, I stamped on top with a great woodblock stamp I recently picked up.

I adhered these embellishments along with some beautiful wooden bees and a scrap of a doily die-cut from the card I made for our next challenge at RRR.  And of course, I burned my fibers for that extra oomph needed to finish the card off.

This is Metallic String Gold available at the RRR shop!

I distressed the elements on my card front using techniques I shared in my last tutorial at RRR, which also showed how I love to burn my fibers.  If you're curious, that video can be viewed here

I went around my white card base stamping and shadow stamping to add interest, and also distressed the edges with more distress ink.

Here is the final card, showing light blue pearl accents that I added...

as well as a focal point, a neat metallic blossom.

I love how my mists collected in the wrinkles of the plastic wrap.

A subtle, organic variation in my paper surface!

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial!  Thanks so much for stopping by the RRR blog today.  If you'd like to see more of what I've been creating, please visit me at my blog!
