Fun Paper Mache Christmas Trees

Hello, sweet ribbon-loving blog friends!  It's hard to believe that Christmas is sneaking up on us so quickly, but it really is.  So...I've been trying to create a few Christmas projects to get a jump start.  I thought I'd share this quick, easy and super cute way to make some decorative Christmas trees.  I picked up a package of six paper mache Christmas trees at Hobby Lobby (with a 50% off coupon, of course).  They are SO cute, they're very inexpensive, and they come in this super small size all the way up to HUGE versions that you can decorate in so many fun ways.  Really Reasonable Ribbon can help with that.
For the first tree, I used lengths of Silver Metallic Twine and Silver Metallic String and it was SO easy.  You just rub a thin layer of craft glue on the paper mache trees, and you start wrapping.  You literally keep wrapping the Baker's Twine around the tree until you've covered it entirely.  But don't ever freak out if you run out of twine as you're wrapping because you can switch colors and do anything you want.  That's the fun of art, right?
On my second tree, I tried a different technique.  I cut lengths of Scor-Tape that I'd wrap around the paper mache tree.  Then, I cut small strips (approximately 2 inches or so) of Olive Swiss Dot Grosgrain Ribbon and I attached them to the Scor-Tape; laying them flat.  Next, I'd run another length of Scor-Tape just above each row of ribbon, and loop the Ribbon up to secure it.  I repeated these rows until the entire tree was covered.  At the very top of the second tree, I wrapped some Gold Metallic String and tucked in a star stick pin.  I also hot-glued some red berries to the tree.
Why not pick up some FABULOUS Baker's Twine or Grosgrain Ribbon and give this a try?  With over twenty different colors at only TEN CENTS per yard, Baker's Twine is a wonderful trim for so many different projects.  In fact, Really Reasonable Ribbon has hundreds of different products to help make your projects extra special.

Not a Ribbon Club Member yet?
The September Ribbon Club Assortment is a collection of Halloween themed ribbon.  It contains 9 styles and a total of 18 yards of ribbon.  The October Ribbon Club Assortment is a Christmas themed assortment with 9 styles and a total of 17 yards of ribbon and crochet lace.  Each monthly assortment is a color or holiday themed collection of ribbon.  What a fun way to build your ribbon stash and try new ribbon styles.

I used some fun dies from Cheery Lynn Designs along with some scraps of Distress Ink papers I made a while back to create this Halloween scene.  So much fun!
My card is topped off with a pretty shabby bow created on my Bow-it-All V3.0 Tool using the orange checkerboard ribbon from the October Ribbon Club Assortment from Really Reasonable Ribbon and the center was topped with a wiggle eye.  I also added a double layer of pretty ribbons across the center of the card under the main panel.

Holiday Cheer with the October Ribbon Club

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  Have you had a chance to create with the  October Ribbon Club yet?  These ribbons are so festive and cheery that they put me in the mood to do a little Christmas crafting.

Isn't this a fun color combination for the holidays?  I've paired up this luscious 5/8" Red Taffeta Ribbon with some poinsettias that I had in my stash.  It's just the perfect shade of red for the new G45 Christmas Magic collection, and I love it!   Gold Metallic String adds a touch of holiday sparkle and shine beneath my chipboard snowflake.

Taffeta ribbon is a bow tying dream come true.  The texture is lovely and crisp, but it's not too thick.  I can see myself using lots and lots of red taffeta ribbon this season!

More of this lovely red taffeta ribbon tops the little tags that tuck inside the pocket of this cheery little card.

I even tied my last little snippet of it around this candy cane and miniature spoon cluster.  Now, why would I need a spoon for this card, you might well ask?

I bet you can guess what I have tucked inside this 3" x 5" folio, can't you?

Just the makings for a little Christmas cup of tea, that's all!

I can't wait to play more with this beautiful ribbon club assortment!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Cheerio,
kathy

Pretty in Pink with Ribbons, Lace & Flowers

Hello crafty friends and Good Morning to you all! Today I'm sharing this sweet card featuring lots of Really Reasonable Ribbon goodies. LOVING all the beautiful flowers that Bonnie carries over at the RRR shop.  The little Rose Buds are absolutely darling, and work perfectly on my card here. Normally I like to make my flowers, but lately you can say I've been kinda lazy in the flower making ..hehehe

On my card here I decided to use the sweet Carnations in pink, then the Aster Daisy, and also Mixed Pink Rose Buds, and 2-tone Pink Rose Buds. I love how they all look so pretty together, along with the gorgeous Canvas Color Band Ribbon with the pink, love it!  I did add some Gabrielle Lace behind.

My card was put together using the Scotch ATG refill, and foam tabs in the thin white, also from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

My image is a digi.  Omgosh it's been years since I've used digis, but this one I fell in love with and just had to have. She is colored with Copics, and I did add some glossy accents to her coffee cup, heart, and dots on her hair bow.

Embellishment flowers are from RRR and can be found here.

You Bewitch Me Halloween Tag

Hello there friends and crafty peeps! Ginny here to share a project I created with the new October Ribbon Club Assortment. This is a Christmas themed collection which is gorgeously festive.
Here at Polly's we're celebrating 13 Days of Halloween but this is no problem as green is now accepted as a Halloweeny color!
I chose the Eerie Tale collection to coordinate with a green and orange theme because all the beautiful roses in the patterned papers have leaves!

I created a multilayered bow with the green plaid from the assortment on top and a vintagy button to accent.
Flowers with a vintagy patina are the perfect finishing touches. I've got this arrangement filled in with more loopy twine bows and die cut leaves.

~Really Reasonable Ribbon~ October Ribbon Club Assortment, Black Burlap String, Sweetheart Blossoms Orange, Black Open Roses.

Wishing everyone a happy and productive day : ) G
