Balmy Breeze and Sage Green Satin

Hello, Friends!  Kathy here to share an idea for a nautical birthday card

I paired Heartfelt Creation's Balmy Breeze papers with gorgeous Sage Green Satin Ribbon, Natural Burlap String and Ivory Burlap Woven Ribbon.  I love all the wonderful texture and shine this adds to the card.   

 

If you haven't worked with Woven Burlap Ribbon before, I highly recommend it.  For the header on this card, I just gently separated the tightly woven fibers to get this lovely open weave.

  

The flower is hand made using the Botanical Roses stamp and die from Heartfelt.  I colored it to match the gorgeous sage green satin ribbon.

 

A panel of designer paper and a simple stamped sentiment circle complete the card.

Nautical roses and sage green ribbon make me ridiculously happy.  How about you?

"You Shine" Lighthouse Birthday Card

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  It's Kathy here with a great summer birthday card idea for the lighthouse lover near you.

 I can almost feel the salt spray on my face and hear the crashing waves on the shore.  I used Webster's Pages Yacht Club papers to make this card.  It's an oldie but a goodie from my stash.  I fussy cut the lighthouse, flowers and ship's wheel from the paper collection, inked all the edges and then layered them with foam dots to create lots of dimension.

There was so much grey in the color palette that I wanted to punch things up with my ribbon choice.  I turned to the May Ribbon Club Assortment and found that the Poppy Red Double Faced Satin was just the right ribbon for the job!  The silky texture and bold color really pumped up the volume of this nautical card. I topped it with a hemp string bow and a sparkly blue button.  These elements really brought the card to life.

There's a little gift card pocket on the front of the card, and I cut down part of the designer paper to make this cute tag to tuck inside.  And a gift card would fit in there, too.  The tag is topped with twisted hemp cord for even more of a nautical feel.

I stamped the birthday sentiment onto grey cardstock.

And because I love pockets, I had to make another one.  This one holds a little notecard that I created using designer paper from the collection.  I left this blank so that the sender can add their own personal note here.

Cute Nautical Cards

Today I have a few nautical inspired cards to share being that it's summer and everyone finally has the chance to be out on the water.  I found these cute papers with lots of red, white and blue nautical patterns on them and had some cute navy satin and jute ribbons to inspire me so I went to work and this is what I came up with.

The colors and prints are bright and fun.  I layered lots of the tags and embellishments that came with the papers and set it on a punched circle die from Spellbinders.  To finish the card and make it that much cuter, I added the navy blue organza with satin center ribbon to the tag so that it stood up at the top tied with just a bit of navy jute string to match it.  And I had a cute metal flower and button in my stash to add on top of that.

 Here is a closeup of the Spellbinders die that I used for the back circle and the other cute pieces that came with the paper line.

I really like this one and it all started with that cute sentiment and I just added on from there.  I am normally not much of an orange person but I think this works really well together.  Love that little dot for the background and the wave paper was just perfect.  To finish it I tied a cute bow with jute string in navy and you can find lots more colors here.... it such a good addition on cards because it's so lightweight for mailing and not so bulky either.
