Miracles Can Happen Note Pad

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend and are rested and ready to do something crafty this week!  Today I have a fun and easy project to share that used lots of natural fibers and ribbons from the Really Reasonable Ribbon shop.

I have lots of these notepads that I pick up from the Dollar Store so I thought that I would create a wrap for one of them and then decorate it with some of my favorite things.  I love the colors and it was really fun to layer all the goodies.  and...  If you read on I am going to walk you through it so you can do one too.

First you are going to need these things that I have above from the RRR shop: Jute Ribbon, Cream Mesh Ribbon, Burlap String in Ivory, Juliet Crochet Lace, and a little bit of Ivory Tulle for the flower on the front.

You will also need brown ink, stamp, metal findings, adhesive, kraft paper, patterned paper, feathers and
a brown fine line pen to make faux stitching and a Scor-Pad of some kind to create the wrap around it.

So to start, you are going to lay the book on your 8 1/2 x 11 piece of kraft paper and create a pattern by folding and cutting the paper the way that you would like it to wrap around.  Mine has a bottom that folds up and 2 flaps that fold over each other in the front.

After i get the pattern done the way I want it, I cut and score a new piece of kraft paper that will fit perfect over the pad.  (Remember sizes will vary for this).

Next you can cut pieces of paper to cover the top and sides and glue them on your book.  Also cut pieces of the matching papers to make a flower.  I used Spellbinders Rose Creations die set for mine.

Wrap the creme mesh ribbon around the bottom and then add layers of the lace and jute to secure it.  You can also add metal embellishments too.

For the flower I gathered the ivory tulle and made a small rosette to go under my flower and also made leaves by cutting the jute ribbon and adding that under the flower too.  I think all the beautiful textures of the ribbons and natural fibers really work well together.

To finish my project I stamped the image with brown archival ink and then cut it out and added some chalk ink around the edges.  This I put over a kraft tag that I made and slid in under the wrap that I put around it and added a pretty feather and a few flowers.  And just to make it match I added a small piece of paper over the top of the paper pad to match the pretty jacket I did.

I hope you like it and have a chance to do some for maybe the teachers or friends that you want to say thanks for just being in my life :)

Have a wonderful week... Teresa

Butterfly Tags by Tracey

Hi, it's Tracey here to share two tags with you today featuring some gorgeous Really Reasonable Ribbon. It's always nice to have tags on hand and Ribbon is a must when it comes to tags!

Really Reasonable Ribbon Products:

Tips and Techniques:

Colored Seam Binding ~ I colored White Seam Binding with several colors of distress inks and dried with my heat tool while scrunched up to get this lovely wrinkled and splotchy ribbon. I inked the flower to place in the center of the bow. Really Reasonable Ribbon is now selling Wild Orchid Crafts flowers. Be sure to check out the great selection here.

Stamping ~ I applied this lovely sentiment with Donna Salazar's Clearsnap Mix'd Media Inx. The corner flourishes were stamped with Distress Ink.

Ribbon Ties ~ Here's more of the dyed Seam Binding as well as some White Wrinkled Ribbon that I dyed purple, and Cream Mesh Ribbon. I pulled them through the top of the tags and tied. I removed the clear threads in the Cream Mesh Ribbon releasing the fun wispy strands.

Crackled Butterflies ~ These Maya Road Kraft butterflies were painted with Smooch Accents, then Ranger Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint. I let the crackle dry over night then, rubbed with Distress ink to color and highlight the cracks.

Texture ~ I applied molding paste over some small mesh I have in my stash and when dry dabbed with ink.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you've been inspired to grab some really reasonable ribbon and created some beautiful tags.

~ Blessings ~

Journey of a Lifetime

It's Tracey here to share a layout featuring Really Reasonable Ribbon. It's so hard to believe that it's the last day of June already!! I hope you are staying cool.

Our son, Joseph, met the girl of his dreams in Rachel. It is amazing how well suited they are for each other. Rachel is a wonderful pastor's wife and helps him in his ministry. They also run an home based business together. This fun photo was taken during a photo shoot when they became engaged. We went to a park and Joseph coaxed Rachel into this wooden train. It's just the beginning of a journey that I pray lasts a long and beautiful lifetime together.

Close-Ups:

Banner and Ribbon ~ I love to combine distressed paper banners with gorgeous ribbons like I did here to mix up the textures and add dimension. First I cut the paper banners, distressed the edges, wet, and crinkled up the paper. After allowing them to dry, I opened and kind of flattened out the flags.

Next I selected these gorgeous ribbons from Really Reasonable Ribbon to pair up with this banner. First, I selected the Cream Mesh Ribbon. This is one of my favorites in Bonnie's store. I love the shabby, stringy texture. I cut a length of ribbon just a little shorter than the paper flags. This ribbon is held together by clear thread, so I pulled out the thread from one end to fray. Then I cut down the center of the ribbon, carefully cutting between two threads. I also cut off the edges that have the clear plastic strand running through them. This left me with two gorgeous frayed ribbons which I adhered atop the flags. Next I selected the Ivory Sheer Box Pleats Ribbon. I just adore the shimmer this sheer ribbon adds to a project!! I just snipped off two pieces and adhered them among the other ribbons and paper banner flags. Scor-Tape is my go to adhesive of choice for adhering ribbon.

Here's another close-up of the flowers showing the gorgeous ribbon below.
