Shake, Shake, Shake by Jenn Cochran

Hello to all the Really Reasonable Ribbon fans and followers.  It’s Jenn here from Jax Bean Stalks.  Don’t forget to stop in tomorrow for our new challenge here at Really Reasonable Ribbon.  We LOVE seeing your creations using ribbon and there is a new challenge theme every 2 weeks.

Every time I make one of these cards, it reminds me of the Taylor Swift Song “Shake it Off”.  I even sing it (sometime out loud...and maybe dance a bit) while I am making them.  Shaker cards are fun and there are a TON of tutorials on Pinterest and the web that demonstrate how to assemble them.

I wanted my ribbon to appear as water.  So I used the Faux Canvas Ribbon inTurquoise.  It is a bit stiffer and really holds a bow nicely.

I tied my bow using the Bow It All 2.0.  It is available at the RRR website.  If you are into ribbon and love making bows, this tool is for you.  You don’t have to be a card maker to use it.  It is the ultimate tool for hair bows and even bows for packages.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  Don’t forget to stop in tomorrow for the reveal of our challenge!  The RRR Design Team has really outdone themselves with projects for this one!  Have a great Thursday (yea!  It is almost Friday!).

Ribbons and Roses

Hi everyone.  Teresa here again on this amazing Wednesday.  I have a quick and easy card to share with all of you today that I did with some  6x6 papers by Teresa Collins (Save the Date) and my favorite Seam Binding Ribbon.  Since spring is just around the corner I picked lots of soft pastels and a simple super tiny black dot to set it off with.

For my card I cut a 5x5 inch piece of white cardstock to make the base and then layered smaller pieces of the printed cardstock and put 3D Foam dots between them.  For the top layer I used a new Spellbinders die from the Laced with Love collection called Blooming Collection.  I used the outer piece for the frame in white and the inner circle.  For the sentiment I used an adhesive sticker from SRM that says You're Special to me, and it fit perfectly.  To finish my card I added a pretty seam binding bow in Rose Petal and added a few roses and tulle too.  It went together really quick and now it's all ready to give to someone.

Thanks for stopping over to see what's new on the blog.

A Trio of Birthday Cards

Hello, Friends! Hope you are having a fabulous Tuesday! It seems like no matter how many birthday cards I make, I always need more. So I'm just popping in today with a trio of birthday cards using fun ribbons and embellishments from Really Reasonable Ribbon that will hopefully give you some fresh ideas for your own birthday card stash.

This first card is made with a cute vintage image that I found in my vast hoard of ephemera.  A monochromatic card is always fun to make, especially when you add some embossed layers and pretty Two-Tone Brown Sweetheart Blossoms  and a lightly sponged White Cosmos Daisy .  It was the perfect finishing touch for this vintage card.

The Birthday Blues

This fun card is made with Kaisercraft "Betsy's Couture" papers and ephemera. I did some stitching on all the  layers and then finished the card off with a fancy bow tied with Blue, Gold and Ivory Plaid Ribbon.  It is such a great color match, and that little bit of gold thread is sooo elegant!

Rootin' Tootin' Six Gun Shootin' Birthday Card

The final card in this birthday card trio is this sassy Annie Oakley card.  I made this for a gal who loves cowboys, the color blue and not a lot of frills.  This gorgeous Noble Peacock Seam Binding is the perfect color match for the October Afternoon Sarsaparilla papers.  I created a little button flower with just a teeny tiny natural burlap string bow.  All the bows were tied with the help of my trusty Bow it All Tool.  It doesn't seem to matter what type of bow I am trying to tie, it turns out well when I use my Bow it All!

Here's a peeky at the inside of this fun card:

I computer journaled the original sentiment onto one of the ephemera cards in the collection.  Fun, right?

So, that's 3 birthday cards down, and only about a gazillion to go! Which one do you like best?

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheerio,
kathy

Puppies and Elephants

Happy Monday...beginning of the week yet again!  I have a couple of cute tags to share with you, here at Really Reasonable Ribbon.   I used Spellbinder dies with 3d foam adhesive for dimension along with mini doilies, buttonssweetheart blossoms, cute little fussy cut retro images from a Children's book.  The ribbons I used include seam binding in lipstick red, baby pink, and rose.  I also used Swiss dots in pink. to hang my tags from.  Fun and cute!  Enjoy, Cherry

Bokeh Card With a Twist

Hi there crafty peeps!  It's Amber here, and I am back today to share a card I created with a fun technique I have wanted to try out for a while now.  I have seen so many tutorials on creating a "Bokeh effect" on card backgrounds using watercolors and white pigment ink.  This is a common technique used in modern photography, that has been showing up in card making lately.  It looked like a lot of fun, so I thought why not give it a try?  Even better though, I wanted to give it a twist for St. Patrick's Day.

The tutorials I have seen online used stencils made from different sized circles, but I used a stencil from Gourmet Rubber Stamps called Shamrocks.  It has three different sized shamrocks on the stencil, so it was perfect for this technique.

I first created a green watercolored background with Tim Holtz watercolor paper and Distress inks in Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Pine Needles, and Bundled Sage.  I then dried the background with my heat gun.  After it was dry, I took the stencil and randomly stenciled different sizes of the shamrocks all over the paper in different intensities with Memento Luxe Wedding Dress Pigment Ink.  This makes the shamrocks look like they are on all different visual planes of view.  When this was dry, I matted it onto white cardstock.  I then wrapped a small band of vellum around the panel with the word happy stamped and embossed onto it.  I cut the "St Patrick's Day" sentiment and arrow in gold glitter paper from my Silhouette Cameo, and attached that under the vellum.  I created a bow and wrap for the card with Gold Metallic String from the Really Reasonable Ribbon Store. I then finished the card with a few sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

I hope you enjoy this artistic take on a modern photography technique.  Have a wonderful day filled with a little bit of your own Irish luck!
