Here today to share with you a little step by step instruction in creating the flower stick pin below... To create this you will need ribbon (red gingham and leaf trim used in my project), on stick pin (used a large floral pin), earring back and craft glue.
1. Begin by cutting five equal lengths of ribbon.
2. Fold each piece of ribbon over to create what is shown below. Stick the pin through the bottom where the two ends meet.3. Once all have been added, add earring back to pin to secure ribbon to pin.

4. Use a dab of craft glue to add leaves to underside of flower.

Once complete you are ready to add it to any project!Go find your favorite Really Reasonable Ribbon and create your flower pin embellishment today!

Knotted Flower Centers & Video

Hello everyone and Happy Wednesday to all!!  Today I'm sharing a layout done with Really Reasonable Ribbons. I've used ribbon for the Knotted Flower Centers, and for my border across the page.

Really Reasonable Ribbon I used is:

Brown Satin with Grosgrain Edge

1.5"White Double ruffled(NEW)

Red Glitz Ribbon (for across page and the bow)

For my flowers I used Heartfelt Creations Daisy Patch Die cut and then 2 different inks to distress the petals. I also used the Decorative Lace Border Die cut in brown and then Bella Rose Die cut for the leaves and swirls.

For the center I used the White Double Ruffled Ribbon that Bonnie now carries.  I LOVE this stuff - another one of my favorites! :)

I also used the Red Glitz in the center of the white.

The Q-T is thickers and the tag at the bottom is a sticker. Oooo, I used my new i-rock tool setter to set the gems at the bottom of my page :)

Guest Designing with Really Reasonable Ribbon!

 

I have some {fun} news to share with you all today ... I am Guest Designing here at the Really Reasonable Ribbons Blog for the day!  Bonnie was sweet enough to send along an invitation to join her DT for the day and mailed me a lovely package of the yummiest pastel satin ribbons and polka dotted organza ribbon deliciousness!!

 I have two projects to share with you all today ... so let's get started peeking!

Project #1 - card made with Crafty Secrets 'Garden' Creative Scraps! 

 

I adore the scrappy look of this sweet card!  I used the hot pink polka dotted organza ribbon and pastel yellow satin ribbon in my design. The polka dotted ribbon was rouched onto the sentiment tag - yum!  I love the pretty little ruffle it made!!

 

I also added some polka dotted ribbon along the edge of one of the layers of pretty October Afternoon patterned papers.  For the yellow satin ribbon treatment, I cut the ends to points, folded the ribbon in half and stapled the folded edge to the underside of the seed packet!

And here is the finished card ... all bright and cheery with it's beautiful scrappy garden theme!

Project #2 - Art Quilt Block #6!

 

I am making an Art Quilt with a stampy friend of mine this summer, so for project number two today, I decided to use my Really Reasonable Ribbons to embellish the next block for my little quilt!  Each block is 6" square and there will be 18 blocks when the quilt is finished.  I plan to hang it on the wall in my design studio so I can enjoy it every day!   I cut 1 1/2" pieces of the polka dot organza ribbon, folded them in half and hot glued them all the way around the apple applique.  I adore all those pretty little dots!

 

Before I adhered the ribbon embellished apple applique onto the quilt block, I layered a piece of blue satin ribbon and attached it to my block with some machine zig-zag stitching.  A snipett of yellow vintage trim was adhered on top of that along with several additional layers of fabrics and a piece of paper doilie!

 I added a few more bits and bobs of shabby goodness -- layers of burlap flowers from Prima, paper flowers, fabric covered brads, pink glittered alphas, a chipboard butterfly from Jenni Bowlin and a {sweet} chipboard sentiment from K&Company!

And just another quick card to share with you all today ... I used the Really Reasonable Ribbon Lemon Yellow baker's twine here!  Creative Scrap image from the Sew Nice Collection at Crafty Secrets.

Patriotic Card and Mini Tutorial

Hi everyone and happy Sunday.  Today I have a quick Patriotic card for you and a mini tutorial on a fun technique using seam binding. 

I looked at the calendar for the RRR design team to see who was posting over the weekend and imagine my surprise when I saw my name!  It seemed like a great idea when I was writing up the calendar in the end of May but I completely forgot about it.  Eeeek!!  Anyway, this is truly a quickie card - one half hour tops.  I included a mini tutorial on a quick and fun ruffle technique using seam binding.  It was inspired by a great video tutorial that Cheryl did on her blog with a slightly different technique using seam binding which you can see HERE. 

There are so many fun ways to use seam binding in your projects besides a bow.  This is one quick and easy ribbon treatment to add to your cards.

1)  Take a piece of seam binding about 2-3 times the finished length you want and fray the end a bit to look like the picture below.

2) Find a thread near the middle of the seam binding (see below) and gently pull.  You'll want to carefully coax the gathers along the seam binding until you have the finished length you want.  The threads are surprisingly strong, but do be careful because you don't want to be almost finished and have your thread break.

3) I typically use a little square of 1/2" Scor-Tape where I want to end the gathering and really burnish it down so it sticks well to all the threads (shown below).  You can use your bone folder to make sure it's really adhered well.  This will hold all the threads securely and keep the gathers where you want them.  Put another piece of tape on the opposite end to hold everything from moving.  You can then peel the backing off and use the tape to adhere the gathered ribbon to the card by folding it over the edge of your cardstock layers and sticking it to the back side.  I also leave a bit of the tail and secure it down on the back of the card with another piece of tape.

Once I adhered my gathered seam binding to the back of the blue layer I added my layered flag image over it with Helmar Zapdots to raise it a bit so it would lay flat over the gather ribbon.  Next I added red snaps and then adhered the whole panel to my red card base.   I then finished my card off with a three loop red seam binding bow made with my Bow Easy Tool.

stamp: Judi-kins

paper:  misc. cardstock from my stash

ink:  I colored the image directly on the stamp using LePlume markers

accessories:  Red Seam Binding, Helmar Zapdots, 1/2" Scor-Tape, Bow Easy Tool, Spellbinders label 17, Cuttlebug Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Making Memories snaps

Give Yourself Fully...

Hello, Connie here again! Happy weekend! :) I just can't seem to stop making these ribbon rose flowers!! If you missed my folded ribbon rose tutorial a few months ago, you can click here to see it again! I created the ribbon roses with some double banded stain/grosgrain coral ribbon and yellow diamond satin ribbon , and then added some moss satin leaf trim around the roses. All of these wonderful ribbons are of course from the Really Reasonable Ribbon Store!

I have used a sentiment from the newly released Serve the Lord set from Our Daily Bread Designs, and layered it on a lacey oval nestabilities. The DP is from Basic Grey and the gems are from Zva Creative.

I made this card for two challenges: this week's Shine the Light Challenge over on ODBD is super simple this week! Anything Goes!! I have paired this challenge with this week's Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge. Such a fun sketch for sure!

Fun in the Summer - Fancy Flip Flops!

Hello! Well it is officially Summer and it is my turn to share with you a fun Summery/Picnic project! Fancy flip flops are all the rage right now...so I thought I would give decorating some a try! I bought these purple flip flops for $2, and the red and white stripped flip flops at the $1 spot at Target. While they are a fine the way they were, I just had to add some ribbon to dress them up a bit for my DD!! :)



For the Purple ones, I have added some light blue satin ribbon around the straps. for the center, I added some Grape Satin with Flowers in the center and then placed a little butterfly button over that! So super simple, but they went from plain purple to "Oh mom! I love them!!" :)




The 4th of July flip flops were created with ribbons from this month's Ribbon Club assortment - the Red and Blue Diamond Satin Ribbons! I added the flag button in the center with some stretchy cord, so they can be easily removed, so that after the 4th, I can add an adorable lady bug button instead! :)

Scrappin' with Ribbon!

Good Morning Everyone!  And Happy Thursday!!!  We are almost to the weekend!  YAY!And..we are still in our "Summertime/Picnic" theme week...so Guess what you get from me....Yep!  I did a summertime scrapbook layout with ribbon!
In this house...we love popsicles, we devour ice cream {Blue Bell}...but when it comes down to it, our  ABSOLUTE FAVORITEsummertime treat is Watermelon! Yeah Baby!!!And with five kids, THIS Mama gets a boatload of fantastic photo ops! Here is "YUMMY".....

I used the loops on the die cut paper to my advantage...I laced my red gingham ribbon through like shoe laces and tied it all up. Then, I weaved the green leaves through the loops to give it the feeling of a watermelon vine.  The larger yellow flowers are handmade.

For this layout, I used:7/8 inch red gingham ribbonlime green leaves ribbonAnd all papers are from My Minds Eye.
I hear all the time that people do not know how to creatively use ribbon on their layouts...well, I just showed you TWO creative ways!!So...those of you who have a TON of ribbon but no idea what to do with it...put it into your next layout!  It is  a LOT of fun and a super easy way to add focal interestwithout distracting the eye from the photos.
Oh...and OF COURSE I can't send you awaywithout a hair pretty!!!I used that same watermelon theme with7/8 inch red gingham ribbon with 1/4 apple green grosgrainand I mounted it on a rectangular snap clip.

And here is my Gorgeous Model, Aubrie.  She is my 10 year old daughter***who will be 11 in 3 weeks!!! AGH!***She was very willing to not only model these clippies...but asked could she have them!  Ummmmm....Of course!I think they look marvelous in her beautiful red hair...don't you?

Well, I hope I have given you some "Sweet Summertime" inspiration today!I don't know about you all...But I am ready for a nice big piece of Watermelon!!!!

To a Fabulous Friend and a Tutorial

Good Morning Everyone, Happy Wednesday, Crystal here and today I would like to share a fun summery creation with you that I made and using my fav Satin Really Reasonable Ribbon!!! :) The Ribbon I used today is 3/8 inch thick!!

As promised I would like to share with you one of my favorite ribbon tutorials...its so easy, and no need to sew the ribbon!!! Hope you enjoy!!!

Step One - complete your card and grab some redline tape....this is heavy duty adhesive and works really well with ribbon



Step Two - apply your redline tape to where you would like your ribbon to start and finish fold one end of your ribbon and start applying



Step Three - Continue to fold and attach your ribbon to your tape until you get to the end

Step Four - Once you get to the end cut and tuck in your ribbon. Attach a glue dot



Step 5 - Once you are down with that end I then check to see if there needs to be a glue dot anywhere else where ribbon won't lay flat. HINT: the tighter you do the ribbon together the less likely you will have an issue :)



Then you have your finished project :)))
