One Last Project

Hi there Really Reasonable Ribbon fans! It's Aphra here today with my last RRR post. I've had such a terrific six months on the RRR DT. I've met some fabulous crafters, learned some great techniques, and acquired an amazing collection of ribbon. And even though this is my last post, I am not saying goodbye because I'll still be checking out all the inspiration and hopefully playing along in some challenges. Alright then, on to my project.

Just Because Gift Bag

The actual gift bag was cut from kraft cardstock with my Cricut Expression Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. It's the perfect little bag for a gift card. Love it!

After adding a 3.5" wide strip of patterned paper, I used some Scor-Tape to add two strips of 5/8" Bright Pink W/White Stitched Edge ribbon. I like how the ribbon finishes off the edge of the paper, adds some texture, and mimics the dashes on the paper. Easy too! Then I embellshed with a layered flower (a scrunched strip of 1" x 12" paper added to the back of a couple of tags), a button, and some Apple Baker's Twine. Add a gift card and some tissue paper and you are done!

Hippity Hop

Easter's on its way! And I have a cute little Carrot Cone Treat Holder to leave for the Easeter Bunny or to share with a friend.

My carrot was constructed using a tutorial that I found HERE at Jana Eubank's blog. The paper, border sticker, and mini alpha stickers are all from Jillibean Soup. The ribbon is Moss Green 1/4" Grosgrain. I love how it matches the green decorative tape so well. So fun! And then I used Orange Baker's Twine to attach my little tag. Just the perfect little touch!

Thanks Bag Tag

The first official day of Spring was March 20. And ever since, I've been enjoying the mild temperatures, glorious rays of sunshine, colorful blooms, longer days, popsicles, barbecues on the patio, and lots of time at the ballpark.

Not only does Spring bring some beautiful weather and fun activities my way, it also means a lot of gift giving: birthdays, Easter, teacher gifts, and Mother's Day. So, today I thought I would show you a quick and easy bag tag that I created for a teacher thank you gift.

First, I cut out my 5" tag using my Cricut Expression, Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, and white cardstock. Then, I used Scor-Tape to adhere three different strips of ribbon to the bottom of the tag. I knotted them after adhering them down. A bit easier that way. Anyway, the ribbons are from top to bottom: Blue Daisy Grosgrain (in this month's Ribbon Club Assortment), Tiny Sheer Pink Minidots, and Lemon Satin Swiss Dots.

For my embellishments, I added some tiny alpha stickers, a die cut butterfly, and two layered circle stickers. And the finishing touch? Yep, an Aqua Baker's Twine bow. That's it.

Ok, gotta go. The sunshine is calling my name.

Leaping Leprachauns

Top 'O the Morning to Ya, Ramblers! Hope you're having a happy St. Patrick's Day. Lots of luck and NO pinching!

For today's post, I thought I'd share with you a couple of treat bags that I made for my two boys. I'll be giving it to them at dinner time. Each bag is full of green treats -- spearmint gum, a mini Sprite, a fruit roll up, and a five dollar bill. Just a little treat to let them know how lucky I am to be their Momma.

These cute brown bags are kraft coffee bags that I altered with some patterned paper and ribbon. I used my Cricut Expression Simply Charmed cartridge to cut the little leprachauns and all their layers. Then, I used some Pistachio Grosgrain and Orange Baker's Twine to create a bow to hold my tag. That's each of my son's initials on their bags.

Cute As A Button

Hi everyone. Hope you're having a great week. It's Aphra here with a cheerful birthday card for you.

This base of this 4" x 6" card was created from kraft cardstock and two pieces of patterned paper. My favorite part, though, are the five buttons lined up along the seam of patterned papers. To really make the buttons pop, they are strung with Cherry Baker's Twine and Red Ribbon With White Stitches. For the sentiment, I added a chipboard banner adorned with Red Mini Rik Rak and some mini alpha stickers.

This is such a simple design, but I think it's so cheerful and sure to brighten up anyone's birthday. Thanks for stopping by today!

Baker's Twine Buzz

Hi ladies. Hope you're having a great week. It's Aphra, and I'm back today with another Baker's Twine project. I LOVE all twelve colors of Baker's Twine that Bonnie has stocked in the store. I could use it on just about every project, including this little shaped card.

Honey Bee Card

I created this beehive shape with my Cricut Expression Sentimentals cartridge. I cut two shapes from kraft cardstock and then used an eyelet to attach them together. To decorate the eyelet, I added a little bit of Licorice and Lemon Baker's Twine.

Wrapped Up in Ribbon and Twine

Hello Ramblers! It's Aphra. Today, I have a mini album to share. Gosh, I LOVE a mini album. Their size is just perfect for several photos and few supplies. Plus, once I get started, they usually don't take very much time. For this How Do I Love Thee mini, I used several ribbons and some baker's twine for my finishing touches.

In addition to the lovely mint green ribbon from the February Ribbon Club, I used pink corsage ribbon, dark brown satin, and white organza. I also tied on some yellow rik rak.

And here's some sweet Cherry Baker's Twine. Isn't it sweet tied in a bow through the button? Oh, and how fun is to hold up my banner? LOVE the twine!

Fairy Tales and Butterfly Trails

Happy Thursday Ramblers! It's Aphra with you today, and I have another layout to share. This one is a bit less bright, more soft and subtle. With so many ribbons to choose from, I can create whatever style layout I like and still find ribbon to embellish it.

Dragon Breath

Even though this layout features a picture of my son, I just couldn't resist using Basic Grey's Kioshi papers and chipboard. The colors were such a great match to the pink and purple dragon mask that came with my little guy's nebulizer. Doesn't he look so pitiful getting his breathing treatment? Don't worry, though, he's fine. Just had a little upper respitory infection that we didn't want to progress into pneumonia. Hence, the title "Dragon Breath."

I used mostly ribbon and trim to accent the top of my picture. To create my photo corner, I layered a piece of Light Blue Random Circles Grosgrain with a piece of Yellow 3/8" Rik Rak. Then, I accented my butterflies with some Cotton Candy Baker's Twine trails.

Another piece of Yellow 3/8" Rik Rak accents the center of my layout as well. I love the movement of the rik rak in the middle of the paper strips. It really draws my eye over to the title.

Boys' Bookmarks

Today I don't have any doilies or ruffles or pink. Nope. Today, I have a project for my two boys, who love to read. As a former English teacher, I really want to encourage them to keep up that good habit. I buy them books. I read with them. We celebrate when they finish a book. So for our next celebration, I made them each a cute little bookmark.

Boys' Bookmarks

Each bookmark was created with a 12" strip of ribbon topped with chipboard and finished with a layered circle and their initials. For the soccer bookmark, I used 7/8 Inch Black Gingham, Red 3/8 Inch Red Rik Rak, and Cherry Baker's Twine. And on the helicopter bookmark, I used 3/8 Inch Dark Grey Grosgrain and Oyster Baker's Twine.

This was such a quick and simple project, buy my boys are going to love it. I think I'll make some more. Maybe I'll do some with hearts at the bottom to give them with their Valentine treats. Or maybe some with crosses for them to use in their Bibles. So many possibilities!

Rik Rak Rosette

Hiya Ramblers. Hope everyone is nice and toasty and indoors today. We are having a little break from the cold weather and it is gorgeous. Almost didn't want to stay inside and craft yesterday, but that's just crazy talk, right? Ha, ha. Anyhoo, I have a fun little tutorial for ya today. We're making a Rik Rak Rosette.

Make A Wish Card

Here we go. First, gather your supplies: ribbon, coordinating rik rak, needle, thread, scissors, and adhesive. In my photo, you see my scrapbook adhesive, but I actually used a glue gun for parts of the flower.

Cut a strip of ribbon about 18" long. I used 1.5" Wired Woven Check in Pink. Stitch a running stitch along one side of the ribbon. I like to use really wide stitches so that the flower will have wide ruffles.

When you have stitched to the end, scrunch the ribbon up along string and stitch the two ends together.

Create a second ribbon loop with a smaller width ribbon. I used Snow Cone Stripe 7/8" Grosgrain. Such a nice color combination, don't ya think? On this second one, though, I didn't pull it as tight, so there would be a bit of an opening in the center.

Glue the smaller ribbon loope on top of the larger one. For this step, I used my Imaginisce I-Bond, their new cordless glue gun. LOVE it! If you don't have a glue gun, you could use fabric glue or even glue dots.

Ok, now here's my favorite part. You need a piece of 3/8" rik rak in a coordinating color to create your center. I used Light Blue Turquoise. Place a bit of glue on the end and then start rolling. Add dabs of glue every couple of rolls or so to keep it tight. When it gets to be the size you like, trim it and glue down the end.

Glue your little rik rak rosette to the center of your layered ribbon loops. Oh. My. Gosh. I LOVE that little center.

Well, I hope you are inspired to buy up all of Bonnie's rik rak and create yourself some little rosettes. I can see myself using these in lots more projects!

Rik Rak Attack!

Hi friends. Hope your New Year is off to a great start. Mine has been full of family and crafting. Can't get much better than that, hun?

I noticed that many of you said you'd like to see unique ways to use Bonnie's fabulous ribbon on a layout, so today I have a fun layout using rik rak. Oh, and baker's twine, of course.

Happy at Home

I think that I've mentioned before that I have a hard time adding an unfinished button to my layout and today is no exception. I finished off these sweet My Little Bit of Whimsy clay buttons with some Cotton Candy Baker's Twine. Pretty cute, hun?

Ok, now this is my favorite part of the layout. To finish off the paper strips, I added a strip of RRR rik rak in between each pattern. So, so easy, but I think it looks kind of quilted. I just love it! I used four different colors of 3/8" rik rak from Really Reasonable Ribbon: ivory, brown, light pink, and light yellow. You can find them HERE at the RRR store.
