Christmas Joy

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Hope you all are doing well.
Today it's my turn to bring you some inspiration here at Really Reasonable Ribbon. I decided to share a Christmas card I created with some of my favorite ribbons. I know we still have a few more months for Christmas but I thought this would be a great time to start on my Christmas cards. So to get started I used the DCWV Merry Memories Stack.

For this card I used that beautiful red pleated organza sheer ribbon.
I know you probably recognize this ribbon from past projects,
but I just couldn't help using it again. I think I need to order some more. lol
I only have a little strand left. I also used the White Sheer with Stitched Center Ribbon
which a beautiful ribbon and perfect for Christmas.

Here is a close up photo of the ribbon.
I think the reason I really like this ribbon is the
beautiful color of red and being that its made of organza
it just has a lovely shimmer affect when the light hits it just right.
If you like this ribbon head over ReasonableRibbons.com or
click on the highlighted link Really Reasonable Ribbon Organza sheer ribbon in red.

I hope you head over to Really Reasonable store to look at some of these beautiful ribbons. They are just a must have for your Christmas projects. And don't forget a new challenge will be starting soon and of course we have our Blog Hop coming up for September.

Thank you for stopping by, and have a great day.
Hugs,

Day 3 of Holiday Yumminess!

Welcome to Day Three!
It's Holiday Sharing Week, and it's my turn to share one
of my favorite recipes and packaging ideas with you!

I am a huge cranberry lover, and love to try new recipes and old favorites with cranberries as one of the ingredients.  I get excited when Thanksgiving rolls around, as cranberries are much easier to find and less expensive. Today I want to share one of my favorites with you. This recipe is a staple for Christmas morning, and also for little treats to share with my coworkers. Many of you probably do some type of Secret Santa exchange, and I use this packaging idea for an individual gift like that, as well as for place settings on Christmas morning for everyone.

Start with an empty tuna can, all washed and cleared of outside paper. After I wash my can, I run an orange wedge along the inside and let that dry for about an hour, then wash again (to make sure the tuna smell is gone).
Cover the outside and inside with one of your favorite designer papers (I used Authentique), add a cardstock circle to the bottom of the inside and outside (the Spellbinders Circle dies are perfect for this!), some gorgeous ribbon at the top (again, both in and out!), and a little doily to sit your muffin on (you can use paper or cloth). A little embellishment with the tag (instead of a sentiment, this is where I would write the names for the place card), and all done!

I used the 5/8" Burgundy Pleated Satin for my package today. If you had the 1.5", you could just use ribbon instead of designer paper, as it is wide enough to cover the whole can. I love the elegance of this ribbon!

When giving as a Secret Santa gift (and not using for a place setting), I also like to place the muffin in a cellophane bag to keep it fresh and prevent it drying out.

Here is my recipe! I hope you will give it a try! (And if you are ever in the mood for a yummy drink while out Christmas shopping, Sonic Drive-In has the best Cranberry Limeades! Diet too!)
Cranberry-Orange Muffins

1 cup dried (sweetened) cranberries
1/3 cup fresh orange juice

2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon powdered ginger

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 Tablespoon fresh orange zest (the zest of one whole orange)
2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon orange extract
2 Tablespoons oil (vegetable, canola or olive)
1/2 cup milk (any fat content)
Directions ~
1.)  Preheat oven to 375 F.  Line a muffin/cupcake pan with paper liners.
2.)  Zest one whole orange (making about 1 Tablespoon of zest) and set aside.
Squeeze the juice from that one orange (about 1/3 cup).
3.)  Put the orange juice (if needed, add some prepared orange juice to the fresh juice to make 1/3 cup) and the cranberries in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer.  Simmer about 5 minutes, stirring as needed.  Turn off heat and set aside.
4.)  In a large bowl add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and ginger, and set aside.
5.)  In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream the butter, orange zest and sugar until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
6.)  Scrape down the side of the bowl, then add in the eggs (one at a time), vanilla, orange extract, and oil.  Blend until well combined.
7.)  Add the flour mixture, alternating with the milk (add about half of the flour mixture, then some milk, then the rest of the flour, and the rest of the milk).  Fold in the cranberries.  Do not over mix.
8.)  Scoop batter into prepared muffin/cupcake pan.
Bake muffins about 20 minutes (test with a toothpick, there should be moist crumbs, but not wet).
9.)  Cool muffins on a wire cooling rack.
Enjoy the muffins while still warm, or when cool.  They are best the day they are made, but are still very good the next day.

Yields about 8 large or 12 medium (standard) muffins.

Beautiful 3-D Dress Form

Hello everyone.  Today I'm sharing a Dress Form I decorated with Really Reasonable Ribbon and Pink Leaves.

I used:
5/8" Pink Pleated Satin (Really Reasonable Ribbon)
Pink Leaves (Really Reasonable Ribbon)
Tim Holtz Die cut (for dress form)
Butterfly, roses, DCWV for dp
I'm making these dress forms with matching chunky charms for a swap I'm hosting and we are to make 4.  Of course all mine will be different :) My chunky charm is shown attached and not.  I still have to add 3 more charms to it before it's complete. These dress forms can be used on a layout, tag, mini album, large photo album, and then use the chunky charm too :)

For my skirt I used some old Tulle I had.  Then I hot glued the Pink Leaves on and then the roses.
For the top of the skirt I used the Pink Pleated ribbon.  I also used a little piece of the Pink Pleated ribbon on the top part of my dress form.

I hope you enjoyed today's post as much as I've enjoyed making this to share :)
Have a lovely weekend!
Hugs,
Cheryl

Fun Gift Card Holders

I'm back with another fun project that incorporates some fun RRR Ribbon. I love to show crafters all of the different ways to use ribbon. This project will help dress up your Gift Card Holders.

You can make your own envelope holders out of kraft cardstock or you can buy some pre-made ones. The ones I used are from Maya Road.

I also added other fun elements like chipboard, buttons, twine, and of course ribbon. These envelopes are perfect for sweet little notes or gift cards for birthdays, holidays, and other celebrations.

RRR Products used on this project are:

Have a great week!

Fun 4 Fall Ribbon - Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hello, this is Connie!! I am just so excited to be posting my first card for the Really Reasonable Ribbon blog!! It is the first week of November...fall is in full swing, and I am sure many of you have already started making your Thanksgiving plans! My card today celebrates one of my most favorite holidays!! I just love Thanksgiving...probably because it is always around my birthday, but I do love getting together with the family too! :)

There are MANY different wonderful ribbons offered at the Really Reasonable Ribbon store for fall...in fact, there is a link on the side of the store "Fun 4 Fall", where both of the ribbons I used on this card today are located! One of my most favorite things to do with ribbon is layer them. Here I started with this FABULOUS 1.5" Brown Pleated Satin Ribbon...love the texture of this ribbon. I then layered it with the uber soft 5/8" Rudbeckia Hand-Dyed Silk ribbon tied in a bow with a bow easy...can you say YUMMY!! :)

The image for this card is from Innovative Stamp Creations called Fall in New England. The image was inked with memento black ink, colored with copics and then distressed with scattered straw & walnut stain distress Inks. To finish off the card, I added the sentiment, and an orange gem in the center of my bow!

Thanks so much for visiting today! Have a great day!

Hugs! Connie
