Patriotic Country Wheelbarrow

Really Reasonable Ribbon-Country Wheelbarrow Die-Photoplay Land That I Love-Kathy by Design

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  It's hard to believe, but it's time for us to start getting ready for all those great patriotic summer holidays.  My calendar tells me that Memorial Day, Flag Day, and the 4th of July are right around the corner.  So I dug into my red, white and blue stash of ribbons to make this cute Patriotic Country Wheelbarrow card.

Spellbinders Country Wheelbarrow-Really Reasonable Ribbon-Photoplay Land That I Love-Kathy Clement

I don't  know what it is about patriotic colors, but they just always seem to make for a beautiful color combo!  I've dressed this card up with Deep Red Cherry Blossoms and Blue Cottage Roses from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Airmail Baker's Twine bows tucked in the corners help anchor them to the corners of my card.  Ribbon makes great borders, too, so I added 3/8" Patriotic Striped Satin Ribbon above and below my focal image.

This same ribbon looks great as a border on top of the pocket inside the card, too.

I hope I've shared some fun ways to use Patriotic Ribbons in your summer projects today.  Really Reasonable Ribbon has a great selection in many different styles and widths, so you might want to pop over and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by!

Red White and Blue Beach Huts

Paper Rose Beach Huts Easel Card Really Reasonable Ribbon Slate Blue Wrinkled Ribbon Kathy Clement

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  Can you hear the beach calling you?  It's calling to me, and I can't wait to stroll along the shore with the wind in my hair and the sand between my toes.  I love to see all the cute little beach cottages along the shoreline.  So when I found this cute beachy paper, I just had to create a little scene with them front and center.  A touch of slate blue wrinkled ribbon topped with natural burlap string is the perfect finishing touch.

TIP: Dress up the pocket on this card with a ribbon border! The Patriotic Vertical Striped Satin Ribbon on the bottom of the pocket is a near-perfect color match for those cutie pie beach houses. Topped with some vintage buttons, it makes a great design statement.

Because this is an easel card, it closes for storage and shipping.  But I thought you might like to see the details up close and personal.

I love the way the torn paper edges look like waves washing up on the shore!

The inside has two pockets.  The large pocket serves as the stopper for the easel mechanism. I tucked a little gift card wallet in here.

The smaller pocket on the top of the card holds this cute little collage bookmark.  Braided Natural Burlap String is the perfect topper, especially when you add a little flip flop charm!

If you're a beach lover like me, I hope you get to dig your toes into the sand soon!

Summer Fun Layout

Hello everyone, and Happy Sunday to all!

Today's post is a super fun summer layout using Really Reasonable Ribbons darling Patriotic Boats on Navy Grosgrain Ribbon. LOVE how cute this ribbon is, and it goes perfectly with this Club Scrap design paper. I kept this page pretty simple, just a couple of photo mattes, a tag, and the title using Thickers.

I embellished with sewing, white gel dots, ribbons, cabochons , and the little RRR flowers. Normally I will add some handmade flowers to my pages, but really loved the way this looked with no flowers.
For the photo mattes I used the darling ribbon and made bows and added the glass cabochons to the centers.
Really Reasonable Ribbon Supplies Used:
Patriotic Boats on Navy Grosgrain Ribbon
Scor Tape 1/4"
12mm flat backed glass cabochons
10mm Resin Flowers

Other supplies:
Club Scrap Boardwalk design paper, and card stock
Club scrap stick for tag
Cheery Lynn die
White gel pen
Thickers for title
I hope you enjoyed my post for today!
Thank you for stopping by and have a lovely day!
Hugs to all,
Cheryl

"You Shine" Lighthouse Birthday Card

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  It's Kathy here with a great summer birthday card idea for the lighthouse lover near you.
I can almost feel the salt spray on my face and hear the crashing waves on the shore.  I used Webster's Pages Yacht Club papers to make this card.  It's an oldie but a goodie from my stash.  I fussy cut the lighthouse, flowers and ship's wheel from the paper collection, inked all the edges and then layered them with foam dots to create lots of dimension.
There was so much grey in the color palette that I wanted to punch things up with my ribbon choice.  I turned to the May Ribbon Club Assortment and found that the Poppy Red Double Faced Satin was just the right ribbon for the job!  The silky texture and bold color really pumped up the volume of this nautical card. I topped it with a hemp string bow and a sparkly blue button.  These elements really brought the card to life.
There's a little gift card pocket on the front of the card, and I cut down part of the designer paper to make this cute tag to tuck inside.  And a gift card would fit in there, too.  The tag is topped with twisted hemp cord for even more of a nautical feel.
Here's a look at the decorated interior of the card.
I stamped the birthday sentiment onto grey cardstock.
And because I love pockets, I had to make another one.  This one holds a little notecard that I created using designer paper from the collection.  I left this blank so that the sender can add their own personal note here.

This month's ribbon collection is so versatile.  I've used it on a farm themed card, a true blue patriotic portfolio, and now on this nautical birthday card.  If you haven't signed up for the monthly ribbon club yet, I highly recommend it.  It's always a treat to work with high quality ribbon!  You can find all the details HERE.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you all enjoy a safe and happy Memorial Day!

Give Me the Simple Life

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  It's Kathy here with a sweetly vintage card featuring the May Ribbon Club Collection.  Have you seen these fabby ribbons yet?  This  red, white and blue color palette is one of my favorites.  It's perfect for Memorial Day, Flag Day, 4th of July and other patriotic projects.  I super love them!
So many pretty ribbons to choose from! This collection is also great for vintage cards and layouts..  Take a peeky at how I used them in this darling card made with Authentique's "Homestead" paper collection.
See what I mean?  They look amazing with these vintage papers! I created a belly band with paper from the collection, and then added beautiful Electric Blue Double Faced Satin Ribbon above and below it. This was topped with festive Random Patriotic Stars on White Grosgrain Ribbon.  To give it a little more of a vintage vibe, I lightly tapped the ribbon with Tea Dye Distress Ink before layering it on with 1/4" Scor-Tape.  I really love the way that Scor-Tape holds ribbon and keeps the ends from fraying!
The top of my  banner flag is festooned with gorgeous 3/8" American Flag Print Satin Ribbon.  I love the way this draws the eye to the stitching detail on this denim-backed banner flag.  The red burlap panel adds wonderful texture and plays along with the vintage Americana vibe of the card.
I painted a bottle cap with Picket Fence Crackle Paint, then added a circle punched rooster to the center.  A little straw and some speckled brown eggs were added just for fun.  This cute embellishment is layered on top of a die cut star, and with the smaller star in the upper right corner, it serves to "frame" the focal image.
Now let's talk bows!  This double layer beauty was created with 5/8" Red Plaid Ribbon and more of that glorious American Flag Print Satin. My vintage button is threaded with ivory burlap string.  I don't know how I ever managed to tie a bow without the help of my trusty Zutter Bow-it-All Tool! (Enabler alert: Bonnie has the 2.0 version on SALE in the shop...and is now taking Pre-orders for the all new 3.0 version.  And, it's almost Mother's Day.  Just sayin'!)
Lately, I've been on a kick where I'm going wild finishing the inside of my cards.  It's so much fun, and it turns a simple card into a real gift.  On this card, I added a pretty border of the American Flag Print Ribbon along with layered papers and images from the collection.  The right hand side has a slash pocket that I filled with a pretty tag that can be used for  home decor.
The tag is embellished with a sticker from the collection and then you know I had to get into my embellishment box and search for something fun to add.  The little wooden washboard was inked with Vintage Photo DI and then draped with a scrap of Red Plaid Ribbon. It's so cute that it made me clap my hands for joy!  Then I added a little apple button, a vintage clip and  more ribbon and burlap string to the top of the tag to finish it off.  I think this card could be used for a kitchen shower or a birthday present and it would make a fantastic housewarming gift!

The versatility of these ribbons is so exciting: nautical themes, sports themes, kitschy kitchen, vintage and of course, patriotic projects as well.  What would YOU make?  I'd love to hear in the comment section below!
