Spooktacular Ribbon Topped Treat Tags

Hello, Friends!  Halloween is coming!  And these spooktacular ribbon topped treat tags are perfect for all the grown up ghouls and ghosts on your list!

I've topped each tag with a wonderful cluster of Halloween Ribbons from the September Ribbon Club.

I've also wrapped ribbon around the pocket base on each tag.  Doing this really gives the tag a finished, professional feel.

The pocket holds treats that any grown up trick or treater would enjoy.  I've wrapped individual packs of cookies with designer paper, added ribbon and a rosette to a vintage silver spoon, tucked in a tea bag, candy corn, chocolate treat and honey stick to complete the gift ensemble.

The ribbon cluster takes these tags from fabulous to frightfully fabulous!  And it is so easy to do!  Just thread lengths of the September Ribbon Club ribbons through the top of the tag.  Tie them off with a length of the Grape Diamond Ribbon Satin to secure.  Top with a boo-tiful bow for the perfect finishing touch.

I upcycled some clothing tags by painting them with black chalk paint.  The jute string on the tag is also tied into the ribbon cluster.  Then I added a mini Halloween card on the front of the tag.

This is where you can add your ghostly greetings.

Here's a look at the second tag:

I'm telling you, friends...ribbon is magic!  I hope I've shared some tips and ideas that you can use in your own crafty adventures!

Thanks for stopping by!

For the Birds..by Cherry Nelson

Hello paper peeps!!!  Cherry here at the RRR Blog.  This post is literally for the birds or about the birds.  Either way they are the perfect harkener to spring.

First a sweet tag with a dimensional house that I assembled and trimmed down to fit my tag.
I covered it in papers and gave it a white wash effect with a chalkboard pen and a bit of Gesso.
I used Baby Pink Stamens and both my projects used Baby Pink Seam Binding from Really Reasonable Ribbon.
I have been enjoying the combination of pinks and yellows.  Such a sweet color combo in my opinion.
My next project is an altered egg carton.  This would be so sweet to fill with chocolates as an Easter gift for a friend, child, or hostess.
With March here...spring really should be in the air...but Oregon literally just seemed to get around to winter.

Hope you enjoy!!!  Thanks for visiting the RRR blog today!  Cherry

Soft and Shabby Chic Sympathy Card

Hello Ribbon Lovers!  It's Kathy here today with a card that none of us ever wants to have to make.  I think sympathy or condolence cards call for extra soft colors and textures.  Sadly, I recently had to make one of these for a friend who lost a dear family member.  There's nothing like a hand made card to say, "I'm thinking about you, and I care."

I just love the way this Pink Center Stitch Burlap Ribbon adds soft texture to this sympathy card.  Tying a thicker ribbon like this is so much easier when using the Zutter Bow-it-All ToolIvory burlap string adds just the right finishing touch beneath the vintage button on the right.

I created this 5" x 6" cutaway card with one strip of 12" wide x 6" wide paper.  By scoring the paper at 4" and 8.75" I was able to create a cutaway front card with an inside pocket.

To make the pocket, simply add a punched edge on the outer edge.  Then glue only the top and bottom flaps to the card base.

This pretty tag is topped with more of the Pink Burlap Center Stitch Ribbon.  I've also tucked in a tea bag and a honey stick for good measure.

I hope I've shared some ideas you can use in your own crafty adventures!  I'd love to hear from you in the comment section below.

Sweet Christmas Tag

Hello crafty friends, Cheryl here with a sweet Christmas tag I created for Really Reasonable Ribbon using some of their gorgeous ribbons from the October Ribbon Club Assortment, and then some embellishments as well. I picked two ribbons and then the lace from this month's kit. Love them all!!!

On my tag I chose to use Graphic45 design paper to cover this large tag, then cut one of the design papers that had little tags and added this one using the foam tabs, and that is where the Santa and sentiment came from. I had some red poinsettia's that I had cut extra for my card yesterday and thought they would be cute on this tag, so I added what I had left. I also added some 8mm pearls, metal leaves, and green leaves to the cluster of poinsettias. I added lace across the bottom, and then used the large diamond satin to tie through the hole, and then used the other satin to create my bow.

I had a lot of fun creating this sweet little Christmas tag, as it took very little time, and was super easy to make. Love when you can make tags fast, and they turn out cute! :)

Looking Forward to Fall with Autumn Harvest Ribbons

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  Kathy here, and I sensed a change in the weather on my morning walk today. There was a crispness in the air and a gorgeous bright blue sky overhead.  Clearly, it's time to pull out my RRR Autumn Harvest Ribbon Club Assortment!

This is a tall, skinny card measuring 4.25" wide x 7" tall.  I created the pocket on the front this time. I'm a huge fan of the Moss/Cream Plaid ribbons in this month's assortment.  They are just perfect for fall!

Here's a look at the card with the tag removed.  The torn paper edge is inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, and I love the rustic look it adds to the card.

I've topped the tag with some crochet lace from the ribbon club assortment and more of that pretty plaid ribbon.  Then I inked up some WOC Earth Tone Chrysanthemum and Cosmos Daisies with Distress Oxide Inks to pump up the golden hues.

A small folio/treat pocket is inside the card.  I created a closure with 3/8" moss/cream plaid ribbon, also from the Ribbon Club Assortment.

The folio is just the right size to use up little scraps of designer paper...and to hold an individually wrapped chocolate.  I think this will make a great fall birthday card, don't you?

Wishing you a sunny day filled with lots of time to create!

Hugs,
kathy

Let Today Last Forever Distress Oxide Tag

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  Have you ever enjoyed a summer day so much that you didn't want it to end? That's the thought behind this Let Today Last Forever Jumbo Tag made with Distress Inks and pretty purple ribbons from the July Ribbon Club Mix.

The base of this mixed media art tag is a jumbo manila tag measuring 4.25" x 8.5".  I'm really enjoying playing with my Distress Oxide Inks, so I decided to create the background with that instead of paper.  I smooshed Dusty Concord, Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint and Wild Honey inks onto my craft sheet, spritzed them with water and then dragged the tag through the inky puddle.  The secret to success with Distress Oxide Inks is to dry each layer as you go.  This way, the inks don't get muddy.

To add some extra dimension, I ran the slightly damp tag through an embossing folder, then sponged over the top with more Dusty Concord ink.  I layered up a bunch of pretty elements, then added the bow cluster.

This Delphinium Delicate Stitched Satin helped to highlight the purple shades in the composition. A loopy bow tied with Natural Burlap String  fills out the cluster and adds even more texture.I added another section of it to the top of the tag, then tied a square knot with Mixed Purple Bold Diagonal Stripes Ribbon.

If you haven't joined the Monthly Ribbon Club yet, you can find all the information about it HERE. It's such an easy and affordable way to build up your ribbon stash with fabulous ribbon and trim.

Wishing you summer days that you wish would last forever!

kathy

Birds, Blossoms and Butterflies Tag Set

Hi Friends! My day here on the Really Reasonable Ribbon blog.

I have two altered layered tags to share. I used lipstick red and mimosa yellow seam binding.

I have been enjoying mixing bright colors together lately.  Summer is almost upon on us and I am craving sunshine and warm breezes.  These tags remind me of long Summer days with the butterfly, birds, and blossoms theme.
I adorned each one with lots of yummy embellishments, chipboard pieces, and Anemones pastel bunch flowers.
I also used gingham covered buttons from the RRR store.
Well that is it for me today! Thanks for visiting, Cherry

Altering Seam Binding Ribbon with Distress Oxide Inks

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  You all know how much I love to use Distress Inks to create custom seam binding ribbon on my cards and projects.  Well, I caved in and bought the new Distress Oxide Inks recently, and I was curious to see if they would do a good job of creating custom ribbon.  After an afternoon of inky goodness, I'm happy to report that I love the results!

I started with a standard sized manila tag, then added Distress Oxide Ink in Broken China, Faded Jeans, Fossilized Amber and Wilted Violet to build my base layer.  One thing I've learned about working with Distress Oxides is that the  more water you spritz onto the ink, the better it seems to look.  For this background, I used the standard "smoosh onto your craft sheet, spritz with water, swipe and tap" method, but I only worked with one color at a time.  I also heat dried each layer before proceeding to the next.

After dressing the tag up with some rub ons and texture paste, I spritzed it with Dylusions White Linen Spray.  These cute paper dolls from Tim Holtz are colored with the DO Inks and added to the party along with a chipboard frame that I painted with Picket Fence Distress Paint.

To alter my seam binding ribbon, I smooshed Fossilized Amber DO Ink onto my craft sheet.  Then I spritzed it with water until little beadlets formed.  Next, I tapped about a yard of white seam binding into that inky puddle. The DO Ink gives the ribbon a heavier body than standard Distress Ink, and it holds the lovely crinkles even better.

After drying the Fossilized Amber, I created a smaller puddle of Wilted Violet Ink and just tapped the ribbon in here and there to add some purple highlights. Then I dried the ribbon with my heat tool again. Next, a visit to the Zutter-Bow-it-All Tool where I tied a shabbylicious bow. WOC  Cream Cherry Blossoms and Sweetheart Blossoms were the perfect finishing touch.

So, if you were curious, now you know: Distress Oxide Inks are great for altering seam binding ribbon!

Thanks for stopping by!

Soft & Shabby Woodland Style Easter Card

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  I have been having the best time creating spring cards with the March Ribbon Club Assortment.  It's added a whole new level of happy to my time in the studio.  Today I have a soft & shabby Woodland style Easter card to share with you.  It has pretty purple polka dot ribbon, a shimmering butterfly and gorgeous papers from Graphic 45's Sweet Sentiments collection.

This Grape Satin Swiss Dot ribbon makes a beautiful belly band for my card. The color blends perfectly with the pretty floral papers.  After tying my triple loop bow on my Zutter-Bow-it-All Tool, I topped it with an Ivory Burlap string bow

The stamped and die cut butterfly is sponged with Distress Inks, then lightly coated with Stardust Stickles.

I created pockets on the inside of the card and then filled them with sweet little Easter treats.

I tied a snippet of that pretty Grape Swiss Dot Satin Ribbon around my handmade button card and used it to finish off my little art tag, too.

I hope you are having fun creating with pretty spring ribbons and beautiful papers, too!

Thanks for joining me!
