Folded Ribbon Rose Tutorial!

Hello! Connie here, and I have a fun video tutorial for you today for a Folded Ribbon Rose! You can see a picture of the final results in the picture above. These roses were created using some pink stain with grosgrain edge ribbon from May Arts. I then added them to some 30mm snap clips which are also from the Really Reasonable Ribbon store!

Okay, now before you watch the video...I just have to say, this is such an easy way to create a ribbon rose. My 7 year old daughter watched this video once, and the next thing I know she had gone in her room, grabbed a piece of ribbon and created a rose all by herself. So trust me when I say this is really a simple technique with an amazing outcome each time!

**a quick edit, I got a few comments saying that when they pulled the tab at the end, it kept going and never stopped. I tried a few things and think it has to do with your first fold. When making the first 90 degree fold make sure you have it folded so that the top of the ribbon folds over the bottom and is now facing horizontally to the RIGHT. If it is facing horizontally to the left, it will not stop and you will pull you flower right out. No clue why...it just does! LOL!! :)**

Ribbon Roses & Ribbon Border Videos

Hello everyone! I have a super short post today to share a couple of videos I made using Really Reasonable Ribbon and Scor-Tape!

I used ribbons and lace from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

My image is Circus Tilda and is from Michelle's Scrapbooking and More. I colored her with copics, and highlighted the silver with a silver gel pen. The roses are all handmade with ribbon from RRR and Scor-Tape provided by Scor-Pal!

Wired Ribbon Rose Tutorial by: True :D

Today I am going to show you how to make a quick and easy rose out of wired ribbon.

Don't laugh at the video...it was my first attempt!

I will get better with practice...I hope! LOL!

You can use the rose on any project but I used an empty coffee can.

It can now be used for a gift box or a trinket tin. You could also do a new, full can as a sweet gift. Wouldn't that be a great disguise for instant coffee sitting on someone's desk?

It has a red lid so that kind of dictated my color scheme.

The red glitter paper was purchased at Hobby Lobby and is by Craft n Craftin. It is Wine Red glitter cardstock. The DP is a scrap piece that I can not remember who makes. If you recognize it, please let me know. I wanted to tie the rest of the can in with the rose so I added the same Wired Sheer Iridescent Red/Purple, and Moss Green organzas to the sides. Of course you know that the ribbons are from Really Reasonable Ribbons!

I ran them through some pearl ribbon slides. I also added a pearl hat pin to the rose so it can be worn as a corsage if the receiver so chooses.

Ribbon roses

Hello my friends, I'm pleased to present you my first weekly project for Really Reasonable Ribbon!
Making custom embellishments is a BIG trend these days, and I regret that I don't do this often enough. Hand-made flowers are especially appealing to me, and there are so many techniques & materials that these can be created with. I'm pretty sure this is going to be my returning subject in the coming months.
Today I'd like to show you what fabulous flowers can be made from a ruffled ribbon. RRR store has some fabulous variety of ruffled goodness - check it out HERE.

I used the JUGS31 sketch, as well as PPA40 - Monochromatic - Blues on my sample.

Supplies: cardstock: Quill, Artarama, DCWV; stamp: Stampin' Up! Best Blossoms; ink: ColorBox Blue Iris, Grant Baby Blue; ribbon: Double Ruffles White, Aqua Satin; Ivory Crochet Lace; rhinestones: Kaisercraft; Cuttlebug machine & Victoria embossing folder; other: pearl beads

To create the flowers, simply cut out a circle from cardstock, and adhere the ribbon to it, starting from the outside and coil it round until you reach the center. Then you can attach a button, bead, brad or whatever your heart desires, to the center of the flower.
I remember some of the commenters on the RRR blog, asking what is the best glue to adhere ribbon with. I certainly don't know what the best one is, but any acid-free silicon glue is good for me. In fact, I use it all the time. PVC glues just don't do the job - they dry far too slowly for my liking ;)
There are various silicon glues on the craft market, but I usually buy a big tube of Selleys Roof & Gutter Silicone Sealant from a local hardware store. That's right - and I love it! haha
