Ribbon Ring

No one loves ribbon more than I do. I use it on all my homemade cards and scrapbook layouts. I make cupcakes and chocolates out of ribbon too! In fact, I have a book on ribbon crafts called “A Notion to Celebrate”. I was unsatisfied with the various spool storage systems, bag systems, and clip products designed to store and organize ribbon, so I developed the most efficient, practical system of all. Love this idea!! I use 3 x 5 strips of card board(recycle boxes) and wind my ribbon around it by color and store in plastic bins. It works!! Thank you for sharing!!

My ribbon organization system is a giant mess right now. Most of my ribbon is either in an overflowing basket or a couple of overflowing old Stampin' Up holders. I've been trying to figure out how to better organize them but so far...it's scary. Looking forward to the organization posts here. Hopefully I'll find a good solution.

Hi , first I'm loving all of these ideas, second I'm already a follower & have your blinky on my site because I love your challenges.

Okay what I do is use wooden clothes hangers , drill about 8-10 holes and then I separate the ribbons by color or theme. This works really well for me because I then hang them over my desk

Poor Girl's Ribbon Organization ;)

Hi Everyone!True :D here.
It is my turn to share how I organize my ribbon for our organization week fun!
I used to use a cafe rod to slide my spools of ribbon on and it worked great until I started on the RRR design team and my ribbon "hoarding" got worse/better, depending on if it's hubby's view or mine. LOL!Those little cardboard rolls take up a lot more room then you think!I now have 2 cafe rods full of ribbon. I am only showing the one with the RRR ribbons though since they are the prettier ones! ;)

I have the rods between my fabric cabinet and a door jam and it is held up with tension...no nails or screws. :)

Since the door is almost always open, the ribbons are behind it and protected from light.

I string yard long lengths (I loop longer pieces as needed) on to large safety pins, by color and hue then run it through a key ring and slide them on the rod. It is very easy to see everything I have at one glance! :)

I have other methods that I use to store special types of ribbon and I hope you will come visit my blog to check those out. You could also get a chance to win one of them! :)

Ribbon Organization Week with Really Reasonable Ribbon

  For our current sale (good thru 2/5/14) click HERE.   Hello everyone.  Today I'm kicking-off a block of posts where the Really Reasonable Ribbon DT girls will be showing their favorite ribbon organization ideas.   I hope you find some organizational inspiration!!
I'll kick things off with my ribbon organizing. BUT, I must say that I don't organize and/or store much ribbon because I can just grab whatever I want whenever I want it from the RRR ribbon room.   Spoiled, I know!
But, I sometimes have spool ends of ribbon that I feel I will want to showcase in a upcoming post, so here is what I do.

I actually got this idea from Trudy (one of our past DT members) when we did an organization block of posts several years ago.  

I don't have a doorway or narrow area where I can put a spring-loaded curtain rod to hold the book rings (which would work really well), so I hang mine on pegs on my slat wall.

I organize mine by ribbon style, but organizing by ribbon color would work well too.

I add each ribbon to a separate safety pin and add them to the rings.  Then, I just cut what I need from the end and I use it.

I think this idea would be great for storing your Monthly Ribbon Club assortments.

You could put each month on a separate safety pin.  That way all the coordinating ribbons would still be together, and they would be out for easy access.

Some of the ribbon ends up crammed in a plastic tote when I don't have the time for the little safety pins.  But ya know, this works too......  :)

Corsage and Diamond Satin Cards

True :D here filling in for Erika again, while she continues to get her new home settled in. She is a busy busy girl!

OK....today, I am also showing off a couple of newer ribbons from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

These beautiful ribbons are the new "Corsage" ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

It's not rocket science ...

... but it works for me, and I'm sure a lot of you are doing it too.

I have 3 big flat plastic storage containers under my desk, which I am allowed to access only when the resident large ginger "guardian of the ribbon" is not in residence!  The top one is for ribbon and the other 2 for card/paper scraps (solid colors in one, patterned in the other).

He would prefer me to leave the lid off the container so that he could actually sleep ON the ribbon, but that's not going to happen.

I roll my ribbon and wrap a piece of scrap paper around it (just like Bonnie does here at Really Reasonable Ribbon), then store it by color in clear ziplock bags.  Any smaller scraps (8"-12" or less) are gathered and stuck onto a safety pin, like this

and stored in the relevant bag as well.  It's amazing how often I only need a few inches of ribbon for a project, and my first port of call is always the safety pin scraps before I go cutting any off the longer pieces.  Waste not, want not, my grandmother always said!

It's easy to just reach under my desk and grab the ribbon bag in the color I'm working with, and match up something suitable by looking through the plastic, rather than taking the whole lot out of the bag.

If there are any multicolored ribbons that don't have a distinctive color theme, then they go into a separate "multi" bag.  Black and white are stored together.

And that's it folks!  It may not be sophisticated, but I like it and it works for me.  I'm sure you'll have lots of wonderful storage ideas to choose from when the organization week is over, and don't forget to enter the draws for the great prizes on offer.

Hi there! I am so thrilled to be here to share some creations with you today! Thanks to Bonnie and Erika for inviting me!! And it's organization week? Too cool!! I'll have to share an organizing tip of my own with you today too!!

First, a little bit about me...

I'm Tina! I'm 34 yrs old and live in beautiful New Brunswick, Canada with my hubby of 10 years and our 5 beautiful children! Life is busy but exciting around here!! Scrapping is my release from every day reality! I've been scrapping for over 7 years. I draw my inspiration from life around me!! Everything from the looks on my children's faces, to their clothes, to music we listen to and emotions in our daily life! My style is hard to pinpoint... but is kind of romantic, clean and simple. I love distressing, B&W photo's and journaling strips!! I have the honor of designing for some fabulous companies... Helmar, Magistical Memories, Simply Renee: Clip-It-Up, Best Creation and Spellbinders!

I'm a Layout gal... I can do cards and altered items if need be, but layouts are where my heart lies... I love the photo's and the journaling... this is what it's all about for me! :) That is they WHY behind doing what I do!

So today I have 3 projects to share with you... one card, one layout and one off the page project! I'll show you 2 on the blog here today... then you'll have to hop on over to my blog for the third project... AND for a chance to win some yummy ribbon! :)
Enough talking... on with the show!
First up is a gift bag created using a plain ole' brown paper bag. I tied a bow using lace and satin ribbon... Sure does dress up a plain ole' bag!!

For my second project, I have created a card. I love texture on my work, so for this card I did some pleating. To hold the pleats, I used Helmar 450 quickdry. It's fabulous... and it dries invisible!!

As I mentioned above, I am a designer for Simply Renee: Clip-It-Up. Today just happens to be my day for posting on their blog as well!! Feel free to check out my project on there... (Will be up later in the morning) it happens to have just the slightest piece of RRR lace on it! :) There are also some more organizing tips!
Before I go, I'll share a little tip with you. One thing that I love is binder rings... I love to group my laces or ribbons together and hang them on my clip-it-up using a binder ring! (See more details on the Simply Renee blog)
These binder rings can also hang from hooks on your wall, from a rod of any sort... I love that I can keep things organized by color, brand, kit... however I want! (I have the fabulous 36 inch ribbon organizer, but I have to wait until my new scrap space is finished being renovated! )

Ribbon Rings, Glass Jars, and a Shoe Bag

Hiya ladies. Are you enjoying Organization Week here at RRR? I sure am. LOTS of great ideas for storing ribbon and LOTS of great prizes. I am excited to share three ways that I organize my ribbon and trims. First, I'd like to show you my Ribbon Ring.

I've organized my ribbon by color. On my first set of rings is my neutrals, then reds and pinks, then oranges and yellows, then blues and greens. On the last set of rings are the patterned ribbons.

A great feature of the ribbon rings is that you can fit several different strips on one tab. In fact, the fuller the tab is, the better the ribbon stays in place.

In addition to my ribbon rings, I also use various glass jars for organizing my ribbon scraps, trims, and twine. I have three large jars and one medium jar, all of which I found in the kitchen gadget department at Wal-Mart. Two of the large jars hold my ribbon scraps, ranging from just a few inches long to a foot or so long. This medium jar holds my embroidery thread and baker's twine wrapped on plastic cards.

This third large jar holds my trims and ribbon that is still wrapped. The tulle is wrapped on medium sized shipping tags. Those are fabulous for organizing ribbon. You can tuck the end of the ribbon or trim through the hole at the end.

Last, but not least, is my over-the-door shoe bag. Again, a Wal-Mart find. In two compartments, I store my ribbons that are still on the roll. I love that you can store several rolls in one section and easily see what you have. In the larger compartment, I store my crop bag. I use a gallon size Ziplock bag to store the extra ribbon that doesn't fit on the Ribbon Ring. I put about a yard on the ring, trim the rest, and put it in this bag. Then, when I go to a crop, I just take this bag with me.
