Military Braid Video Tutorial
Hi everyone and Happy Saturday!!!! I'm filling in for Trudy today and I finally have the military weave video tutorial that I promised you last month.
This is my first (and possibly last - lol) video tutorial, so please be nice! :o)It's a bit long, but I edited out everything I could. Please take a look and let me know what you think. If anything needs further explanation I'd be happy to help you out.
I think the ribbon flower that Robbie just shared with us a couple of days ago would be perfect to use on the flip flops in place of the bows. Iwona's ribbon roses made with double ruffle ribbon word work great too.
Go grab some ribbon out of your stash and give the military braid a try. If you are a ribbon club member, the yellow and lime striped grosgrain in our June assortment (shown below) would be great for flip flops.
If you are not a Monthly Ribbon Club member yet, this is the perfect month to join!We have lots of great 3/8" ribbon styles on our Really Reasonable Ribbon website if you are looking for something special.
I'd love to see what you create with your military braid. Be sure to send us pictures!

Using Strips of Ribbon...
Please click here to go to our 1st Challenge- Create something Masculine. You could win a gift certificate to the store.
Quite often when I do a layout, I am just using strips of ribbon as an added embellishment. One thing I really like to do is use strips of pattern paper along with strips of ribbon. You can see I did that in this layout of my nephew. The Jute ribbon in "lime" is part of June's Ribbon Club! Then the cute Orange dot ribbon is part of a set you can purchase from Really Reasonable Ribbon called Swiss Dots Brights Assortment.
Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!

Paper and Ribbon Flower

Good morning, it's Gini here to share with you today. I recently saw a tutorial for making pleated paper flowers, and I thought, wow, wouldn't it be gorgeous to add some ribbon to the edge of the paper and combine the two? So, I tried it out and came up with this beauty. I added Old Gold satin edged ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I love the texture this added! The button in the center is an antique needle woven button from my stash. I thought it was just perfect with my Graphic 45 Papers.

Happy Tuesday
Please click here to go to our 1st Challenge- Create something Masculine. You could win a gift certificate to the store.
Hi everyone! Robbie here doing my first Really Reasonable Ribbon tutorial. Hope that you are off to a great start to your week! I'm really happy to be sharing my ideas with you this month. I wanted to start with sharing a layout with you. Summer is my favorite season and I've been really enjoying all the bright papers and embellishments.

I recently learned how to make the ribbon flowers and leaves and I'll show you how, too! These are really very quick and easy!
Note: In the pictures, you will see that I used black embroidery floss. I have used this to make it easier for you to see. It is best to use a stronger thread for this technique to insure that your thread doesn't break. My favorite is using a clear thread so that you don't ever have to worry about it being seen.
Flower Instructions:
You will need
1 -9 inch piece of 7/8” ribbon of your choice.
1 -large brad.
Strong thread
Step 1: Fold ribbon into 5 equal sections (about 1 1/4 inch each)as shown. Use your fingernails to make a crease where the folds are.

Step 2: Make a running stitch in a U shape for each petal as shown. Take thread over the top of the ribbon at each fold before continuing your running stitch to separate your petals. (see bottom of the picture. Note how each time you finish your U-shape you take your thread over the top and through the bottom of the ribbon to start your next petal)

Step 3: Pull thread from both ends as shown to gather. Tie the threads in a knot to secure the ends together. Tuck the ends towards the back.

Step 4: Even out gathers and add a large brad or button for your flower center.

Leaf Instructions:
1 -4 inch piece of 5/8” ribbon of your choice
Strong thread
Step 1:Fold ribbon as shown and make a running stitch as shown.

Be sure to catch the ribbon edge on the backside in your stitches.

Step 2: Gather by pulling the thread tight. Wrap the thread around the ribbon 2 or 3times and knot to secure.

Step 3: Trim close to the stitching making sure not to cut the thread.

Attach your flowers and leaves to you project. I used large pop dots for the flowers and glue dots to tuck the leaves into place.

Thanks for dropping by! I would love to see your projects using these flowers. Don't forget the current challenge! You still have time to get your project in. Just look to your left and use the link to check it out.

Summery pleats
I'm so happy to be able to enjoy summer this year, like the majority of the world - in the 'proper' season (lol), so I'm bringing you a "freshly picked" card, that reflects the colours of the Polish Summer.
I used several types of ribbon, available it the RRR store, and two cute hand-painted buttons from the Spring collection. This one is my favourite, but you can find buttons in many other colours here.
Supplies: cardstock: Quill; paper: Cosmo Cricket; letter stickers: American Crafts; border punch: Fiskars; chipboard flowers: Lil' Davis Designs; ribbon: Leaves Moss Green, Swiss Dots Grosgrain Moss Olive, Sand Mini Ric Rac; hand-painted buttons (Spring collection)
Thanks for stopping by, I hope I inspired you towards making a bright, summery project yourselves!
