Hello everyone and happy Wednesday. For my post this week I bring to you a card I created for Cards for Men. The challenge was a recipe card using 1 image, 2 designer papers and 3 embellishments.
After deciding to work with this image I realized that I did not have any die-cuts or anything to create waves. So, my friend said to me why not use ribbon to make a water effect. I went thru my wonderful stash of Really Reasonable Ribbon and found this fabulous Denim Blue/Black Swirls Organza Ribbon. I gathered a piece of the ribbon and then glued it to the inside of the oval opening. I really like the result of how the ribbon resembled waves.
I chose the Brown/Blue Square Print Sheer Organza by May Arts to accent the top of the card. I used a ribbon stitch punch to create loops and weaved the ribbon thru. I then used the Bow Easy template (that can be purchased from Really Reasonable Ribbon) to make my bow. How easy and perfect the bows are when you use the bow easy tool.
Here is my card using Morty Fishing from Sew Many Cards:
Digital Image: Morty Fishing from Sew Many Cards (colored image with Prisma color pencils and OMS and cut image out).
Sentiment: Relax sentiment from Digital Delights by Louby Lou (Bookworm sentiment).
Tutorial: Dimensional Card by Nathalie from Digital Delights by Louby Lou.
Card Stock: Blues and green (TAC), stripes (Colorbok-Patterned Pastels) and squares (Best Occasions).
Die-Cuts: Nestabilities Ovals/Scallop Ovals.
Punches: McGill Ribbon Stitch Punch.
Inks: Sakura Stardust Gelly Pen (patches on tire and Morty) and Blue Sharpie (used on acrylic discs to create dew drops).
Embellishments: Silver jump rings, silver fish charm, acrylic discs (dew drops), Denim Blue/Black Swirls Organza Ribbon (gathered ribbon and glued to oval opening to create a water effect) and Brown/Blue Square Print Sheer Organza Ribbon by May Arts (weaved ribbon across the top and made a bow with the Bow Easy). Both of these ribbons and Bow Easy can be purchased from Really Reasonable Ribbon.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope everyone has a fantastic week!
Hugs, Kym
