Hi everyone! Robbie here doing my first Really Reasonable Ribbon tutorial. Hope that you are off to a great start to your week! I'm really happy to be sharing my ideas with you this month. I wanted to start with sharing a layout with you. Summer is my favorite season and I've been really enjoying all the bright papers and embellishments.

I recently learned how to make the ribbon flowers and leaves and I'll show you how, too! These are really very quick and easy!

Note: In the pictures, you will see that I used black embroidery floss. I have used this to make it easier for you to see. It is best to use a stronger thread for this technique to insure that your thread doesn't break. My favorite is using a clear thread so that you don't ever have to worry about it being seen.

Flower Instructions:
You will need
1 -9 inch piece of 7/8” ribbon of your choice.
1 -large brad.
Strong thread

Step 1: Fold ribbon into 5 equal sections (about 1 1/4 inch each)as shown. Use your fingernails to make a crease where the folds are.

Step 2: Make a running stitch in a U shape for each petal as shown. Take thread over the top of the ribbon at each fold before continuing your running stitch to separate your petals. (see bottom of the picture. Note how each time you finish your U-shape you take your thread over the top and through the bottom of the ribbon to start your next petal)

Step 3: Pull thread from both ends as shown to gather. Tie the threads in a knot to secure the ends together. Tuck the ends towards the back.

Step 4: Even out gathers and add a large brad or button for your flower center.

Leaf Instructions:

1 -4 inch piece of 5/8” ribbon of your choice
Strong thread

Step 1:Fold ribbon as shown and make a running stitch as shown.

Be sure to catch the ribbon edge on the backside in your stitches.

Step 2: Gather by pulling the thread tight. Wrap the thread around the ribbon 2 or 3times and knot to secure.

Step 3: Trim close to the stitching making sure not to cut the thread.

Attach your flowers and leaves to you project. I used large pop dots for the flowers and glue dots to tuck the leaves into place.

Thanks for dropping by! I would love to see your projects using these flowers. Don't forget the current challenge! You still have time to get your project in. Just look to your left and use the link to check it out.
