Here comes the bride

A pretty bridal garter for the happy bride on her wedding day is a wonderful gift if you sew and have a few basic supplies.  I have made many of these garters over the years, firstly for friends who were getting married, then my own (almost 40 years ago!), my DIL, and now nieces and young friends of our family who are at the 'marriage' age.  They also make a lovely gift at a bridal shower.  I usually use blue ribbon somewhere on the garter because of the old saying, "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue."  If you and the bride like traditions like this, it's a good way of introducing the 'something blue' in a subtle way!
These are the supplies you will need (plus a heart charm and of course a sewing machine.  It can be made with hand sewing but is a bit trickier.):
White lace, ribbon and the gorgeous Sheer Woven Rosettes, all from the RRR shop, and a suitable width and length of elastic.
Sew the blue ribbon to the lace as close to the edge as you can get, both edges.  You now have a "tube".  Then lay the rosettes over the blue side of the tube and sew them onto the lace/ribbon tube, again right on the 2 edges so as not to block the tube.
Attach a safety pin to the end of the elastic and thread the pin/elastic through the tube between the lace and the ribbon.  Pull on the elastic until you get a suitable gathered garter/leg size and sew through all layers at both ends.  This is what is should look like now:
Trim the ends neatly and overlap the ends by approximately 1/2" and sew them together through all layers.  Make a small bow from thin blue ribbon and sew a small heart charm onto it, by hand, as shown.
Lastly, sew the bow/charm onto the garter over the joint where you sewed the ends together.  And here you have it:

Isn't it pretty?  It really is a quick and easy project that any bride would be delighted to wear on her special day.

Really Reasonable Ribbon Wedding Week- Day 1

Hello everyone and welcome to Wedding Week here on the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog. Every day this week you are going to be wowed by some amazing Wedding projects. We all have something to share with you and we are hoping that you will share your wedding memories and project ideas with us.

I'm Erika Taylor and I'm thrilled to be starting off this wonderful week with a Bridal Set I created using a bunch of different Really Reasonable Ribbons. The Set includes an invitation, program, place card and favor cone, so lets get started!!!

First off a beautiful invitation using Glimmer Mists, Parisian Anthology papers from Pink Paislee and the most beautiful ribbon. The Sheer Ruffled Edge Fuchsia is beautiful for bows and trim on an elegant invite.

Next, the place card using the same Fuchsia Ruffled ribbon. I love how this ribbon works on papers.

Now onto the program that will let all of those guests know what the order of the special day's events will be. I've again used the Fuchsia Ruffled Ribbon and I've paired it with 1" Satin in Spring Green. I so love the color combination of fuchsia and green together.

Last but not least, that little gift for all of your guests. I've created a favor cone and added a bunch of ribbon to really give it an elegant feel. I think it is my favorite of the bunch and I hope you like it too. I've used both the Fuchsia Ruffle and 1" Spring Green ribbons for this one and added a little extra with a bit of 1/8" ribbon.

Here is another view for you.

So a little grouping for that spring bride to make her special day shine. This was so much fun to create and I hope you've enjoyed your first day of  Wedding Inspiration at Really Reasonable Ribbon. Check back every day for some amazing projects from the rest of the design team. Here is one last look at the bridal set together for you.

Thanks again for stopping by.

Toodles

Ramblings by Jacque!!

Happy Sunday everyone!! We hope that you are having a marvelous weekend and are getting ready for a great week!! Let's all ramble a little bit and I will share a card and a bit of news with you!!!

First I wanted to show you a little card I made this week using another of my new LOVES---Double-Faced Satin--this time in a 5/8" width. And let me tell you I am so impressed with how lovely the bows are made with this ribbon and the Bow Easy Tool. It is so difficult to find satin that is double-faced and Bonnie has it in so many colors and sizes at the Really Reasonable Ribbon Shop that you will be amazed. When you use this ribbon, there is no need to be concerned which way the tails of the bow are facing because they are just as pretty on both sides---LOVE IT!!!!!

On the outside of my card I used a double flat bow by wrapping the ribbon around the Bow-Easy twice because I wanted it to have much more dimension. But on the inside I made single flat bows by wrapping just once around the tool because I wanted much flatter bows...However the ones on the inside have just as much body because the ribbon is such a wonderful quality!!

How many of you have popped over and checked out the new Ribbon Club Assortment that Bonnie has just posted on the shop?? You can see them below!! Do they not all just yell out SPRINGTIME?!?!?! The DT will have our monthly Blog Hop on Wednesday, April 13 using ribbons from this April Assortment!!! So put that on your calendars and come on by!! I think I might just have to use the Lavender Diamond and the tiny Yellow Dots together...what do you think????

And finally...beginning tomorrow, April 4 through Monday, April 11, the DT will all be using a WEDDING THEME for our Ramblings posting so we would love for you to come by each day this week so you can see the lovely submissions by the RRR DT.

Until next Sunday, I send BIG HUGS to each of you....Jacque

Remember, tomorrow is the last day to apply for the RRR DT!  Trust me, it's an amazing team to be on!  Thank you so much for stopping by today, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend:)

To do this is really easy and all you need to do is go to Customise > Settings > Comments > then scroll down to where it says comment moderation and select always (this won't stop anybody leaving you a comment but they won't show on your blog till you approve them). Then scroll down to show word verification for comments? and select No.
We love to visit your blogs and leave comments on all the terrific entries, but the word verification really slows us down. :o)
