when a little is enough...

I often find small pieces of ribbon and trim left in my ribbon bin as I make sure never to throw anything away. I know someday there will be a use for the scraps on a project. Today I bring you just a quick tutorial on how to add these to your card to create your own background as shown in this close-up below...

First, begin with paper and your ribbon/trims. Note that they don't have to be cut to the same length. I think it adds more to keep them at different lengths. You want to make sure that you lay it out first on the cardstock/paper before adhere them, or as I have done here stitched them. As you add each layer, slant them slightly so they overlap.Once you have stitched them all and your paper piece is finished it is time to add embellishments, glimmer mist, etc. as desired.I wanted to keep this card feeling a little shabby chic so I made sure not to trim the ends of the ribbon and lace trims. Matches the fraying of the fabric heart as well.Supplies used : 1" and 1.5" satin ribbon in ivory, variety of ivory and white lace trims.
