Bewitching Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!

Have any of you had a chance to play with the Rare Oddities collection from Graphic 45 yet?  I stole a few moments the other day, and found some bewitching Really Reasonable Ribbon and trims to go with this spook-tacular collection.  I waved my magic wand, and the next thing I knew there was a frightfully fabulous shaker card sitting on my desk.  (If only it worked that way, Ribbon Lovers....if only!)
I love the beautiful prints in this collection and really wanted to pull out the purple and gold hues.  Naturally, I called upon ribbon to do all the heavy lifting for me. This Plum Diamond Satin Ribbon looks fantastic with these papers, doesn't it? I super love the way the diamond pattern in the ribbon complements the plaid background paper.
I created my layered bow with my Zutter Bow-it-All Tool.  The bottom layer has 3 loops and the top one has 2.  I pulled all the loops out and "fluffed" them to make it look really poufy.  This ribbon is easy to work with, has a nice finish and ties boo-tiful bows!
After cutting a 3" piece of Old Gold Shimmer Satin Ribbon, I cut fishtails on each end.  It was folded in half, touched with a spot of hot glue to hold the fold and then glued on top of that luscious Plum ribbon.   this was topped with a loopy gold metallic string bow.  The finishing touch was adding that gorgeous Earth Tone Trellis Rose.   I have totally fallen in love with these beauties, and they come in a ton of colors!
While digging through my stash of embellies, I stumbled upon these cool paisley ribbon slides.  I added more of that sparkly Old Gold Shimmer Satin Ribbon and glued them on either side of my chipboard sentiment.
The fun thing about a shaker card is that it's like getting a party in a card, and both the inside and the outside are fun to look at.  I have to say....this bewitching ribbon and paper combo makes this Ribbon Lover happy, happy happy!

Thanks for stopping by!

Fun with Chipboard Ornaments

Hi Everyone.. today I have another Christmas idea to get started before the holidays are upon us using the October Ribbon Club Assortment and a few other beautiful ribbons that I have from RRR.  This month the assortment is jam packed full of gorgeous ribbons to use and I had a hard time deciding what to use on it :)  So I did a few of the ornaments to share with all of you today.

This is another fun chipboard product that I found and it was soooo easy to cover with papers and the ribbons on the sides to finish them.  Each is something different and this would be a great project to use up some of the things you have saved in your stash and then you can hang them on the tree each year and enjoy them instead of being tucked away...

This is my favorite and I used a premade Santa and then cut circles and a fancy lacy circle to back the chipboard ornament.  The ribbon on the front is from the RRR club assortment and on the sides.
The ribbon on the side is christmas dots and green ovals and the front ribbon is metallic edge satin ribbon in green.  This one comes in lots of shades and is one of my favorite.

For this one I used some snowflake papers for the theme and then cut a big snowflake from a Spellbinder die to put on the front.  And of course lots of pretty red snowflake ribbon and the white organza dot ribbon with dots that look like snow.  This was super quick and easy to do.

And lastly I decorated this one with some pretty red snowflake papers and added poinsettias that I made and added gold to the edges so that they would match the metallic gold thread.  Guess I am going to be needing to go back to get more of these to make for gifts... It's really fun :)

Thanks for stopping over and don't forget to leave a comment...

Cute Idea for Christmas this year

Everything has a bit of inspiration to it's beginnings and today my project is something that would be really fun to make for your kids or have them help you with.  I found a chipboard mailbox in my local hobby store and thought how fun to make up one for Santa to leave special messages in or treats for your kids for the holidays.  They could write a special letter to him or maybe even notes, and of course Santa would send something special via the elves to answer back :)  How special would that be for a Christmas memory this year?

So to make my box, I used the chipboard mailbox and cut pieces of paper to fit the sides and the front, back and the bottom.  I used quick dry liquid adhesive to glue all the pieces on, and then I inked the edges to make it a little more rustic and vintage.  The paper I used is from My Minds Eye Christmas collection.  I love the colors of it and the tags were nice to use on the side too.

Here is a closeup of the ribbons and gold cording I used to decorate the handle that lets them know that something special is inside when it is up.  I used wrinkled ribbon in green and burgundy seam binding too.  The flower is made with a Spellbinders die in papers to match with gold on the edges.

If you are doing lots of projects this year you are going to love to use some of the metallic gold and silver strings.  They are easy to use and you can slide things like bells and other little goodies on
easily to dress up your projects like I did.

So thank you for dropping over and don't forget to leave me a comment and let me know what you think of my idea today.... Have a wonderful day... Teresa

Mixed Media "Beehive" Card Tutorial

Hello there!  Vivian here with a tutorial for you sharing a few, fun mixed media techniques that went into making my "Beehive Card," part of a series of projects I've recently made to honor Earth Day.

To start, I blended distress ink on a square piece of white cardstock.

Then I incorporated a technique I've been using lately on all my projects - plastic wrap + media.  In this case, I spritzed my background with a few mists and immediately scrunched up a piece of plastic wrap on top and set the paper aside to dry.

Then, I altered some chipboard hexies with the media you see in the pic.

For additional textural punch, I stamped on top with a great woodblock stamp I recently picked up.

I adhered these embellishments along with some beautiful wooden bees and a scrap of a doily die-cut from the card I made for our next challenge at RRR.  And of course, I burned my fibers for that extra oomph needed to finish the card off.

This is Metallic String Gold available at the RRR shop!

I distressed the elements on my card front using techniques I shared in my last tutorial at RRR, which also showed how I love to burn my fibers.  If you're curious, that video can be viewed here

I went around my white card base stamping and shadow stamping to add interest, and also distressed the edges with more distress ink.

Here is the final card, showing light blue pearl accents that I added...

as well as a focal point, a neat metallic blossom.

I love how my mists collected in the wrinkles of the plastic wrap.

A subtle, organic variation in my paper surface!

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial!  Thanks so much for stopping by the RRR blog today.  If you'd like to see more of what I've been creating, please visit me at my blog!

Burning Your Fibers

Hi friends! Over the last few months, I've shared with you a couple of projects in which I scorched my fibers.  Today I thought I'd share a video tutorial which illustrates the types of fibers from Really Reasonable Ribbon that I've been altering and the interesting results.
Here's the video:
In the video, I share a few project samples in which the fibers have been burned.  Interestingly, rather than imparting a harsh feeling, this action often softens the look of be-ribboned projects. After the samples, I share a grungy card project from start to finish that gets a nice punch of extra texture and freshness with an assortment of burned fibers.

Here's a detail of the funky burned fibers.

And a detail of the die-cuts that I grunged up.
Hope you'll take a break from your day to watch!  If you are interested, a detailed supply list is available in the description box under the video.  As for my fibers, I used White Seam Binding, Metallic String Gold, and Metallic String Iridescent White, all available from the RRR shop!

A Quick Card

Hi friends!  I have a card to share with you today that uses ingredients from Really Reasonable Ribbon and my Scraps of Darkness February "Simple Pleasures" kit. There were some lovely Kaisercraft patterned papers included in the kit, as well as some delicate embellishments that I used to decorate this card project.

I love how easily the seam binding from the shop takes to wrinkling - wish I could have it in every single color available lol!  I wrapped my card with it and for some additional punch, I also wrapped with the Metallic String Gold - my absolute fave fiber from the shop right now!

I did a bit of background stamping, slapped on a sticker sentiment, blinged it up, and completed a card lickety split that shall go in the mail today.

Thanks so much for visiting with me here today!  For tons more inspiration, come on over to my blog!

Texture and Shimmer

Hello friends!  Vivian here today with a few cards to share. With these projects, I finally cracked open a 6 x 6 in. pad of beautiful papers from My Mind's Eye that I had been hoarding. As this collection has a nice, muted palette, I took the opportunity to play up my projects with some gorgeous texture using Champagne Netting and some beautiful Metallic Iridescent White String.
I find myself reaching for that string in a lot of my projects these days - such a delicate, unique, perfect finishing touch.
To create the pearl borders, I got to play with some new Pearl Pens from Viva Decor that I'm currently very excited about!

For my second card, I paired the blue with some of the yellows and ochres in this collection for a bolder color combination.
I used my "Frame Back, Ornate" die from Sizzix, splitting the die cut shapes in half to create a pretty ombre effect.
The Metallic String Gold from the Really Reasonable Ribbon shop caught the yellows in my project and added just the right amount of shimmery punch.
Thanks for visiting with me here today!  Hope I inspired you to get crafty with some of these gorgeous fibers!

Playing with Textures

Hi everyone!  Vivian here to share with you a recent card project that's all golden. In my mixed media work and various papercrafting projects, I've been playing around with shapes that are somewhat abstract and have really gotten excited about the multitude of ways in which we can incorporate texture into our projects.

The great variety of textures in the fibers available at the Really Reasonable Ribbon shop makes me really happy!  So while some folks crave the mall and fashions, I am perfectly content to stay home in my pajamas and load my online RRR cart!  Check out how this stuff glistens in the morning light!
Time for me to order more organza!
In this card project, I liberally wrapped a square of richly decorative foiled patterned paper with Metallic String Gold.  Then I randomly wove a few lengths of Sheer Iridescent Copper Organza through the strands of gold string.
My focal image is an abstract cluster of textures created with the aforementioned fibers, pearls, and a matte translucent button.
And one of my favorite Hampton Art sentiments, a reminder to take life one day at a time.  We all need that, don't we?  Especially on humpdays.  Hope y'all cruise on into the weekend and see you back here next month.
