Paper Bag Album - Family

Hey there, everyone!  It's Karen Letchworth posting today, and I'm so grateful that you've stopped by.  Today I'm sharing a sweet paper bag mini album I created using lots of great trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Paper bag albums are easy and fun.  This album has many pages, so I will only post here the pages of my album that include ribbon.  You can see the additional pages on my blog, My Cup Runneth Over.
This is the cover of my album.  As you can see.....I put a big red rose on the cover.  This is actually a Wild Orchid Crafts 40mm Tea Rose from the Mixed Reds Collection, and is one of the darker reds in the selection.  All the roses in this package are just SO sweet.  It made the perfect accent to the cover of my album, and they come in several color assortments.
This is the second page of my mini album.  I added a smaller envelope to the middle of my album (giving me a total of four additional pages/sides to decorate) which is slightly smaller/shorter than my paper bag album, so I had to use a paper clip to hold the pages while photographing.  This second page (which is the first page of the inner envelope - does that make sense....LOL) has some sweet Gold Metallic Baker's Twine that is wrapped several times around a small wooden jar.  Baker's twine is just a great way to add an extra touch to something and kick it up a notch.
Page three (above) includes a doily, stickers, Melissa Frances rub-on (heritage), a chipboard (notes) piece, a photo space, and a die-cut felt flower and leave.  Inside the felt flower, I added a chipboard button and I threaded some Blue Solid Baker's Twine through the holes of the button.  It really made the chipboard button POP!
This (above) is actually page five of the mini album, but it happens to be the next page that has Really Reasonable Ribbon on it (or any ribbon for that matter - I wouldn't use anything else).  I ran a long length of the Solid Red Baker's Twine around the left-hand side of my card and tied it into a hanging knot.
Here is page six - the final page of my album (other than the boring back side of the album which I didn't photograph, but you can see in some of the photos).  I added a journalling spot, left room for a photograph, added some ruler paper, a PTI decorative border trim, and a length of Debra Natural Crochet Lace on the right-hand side of my page.
The really nice thing about using paper bags to create albums is that they come with built in pockets (the inside flaps of the bags themselves), so you get an automatic place to store photos, tuck in some journalling, etc.  I created this tag for one of the pockets and tied it with the AWESOME 2 1/2" Cotton Blend Plain Ribbon.  You may also notice that I tied the mini album shut with this same 2 1/2" Cotton Blend Plain Ribbon.  This has become one of my most favorite trims at Really Reasonable Ribbon.  It can be very easily ripped/torn into narrower strips giving it many more uses; and I just LOVE the shabby look it lends to my projects.

Really Reasonable Ribbon has so many great ribbons, trims, laces, flowers, leaves and more that will enhance all your projects.  I encourage you to stop by today and do some shopping.  We'd also love to have you play along in our FUN CHALLENGE that's taking place now on the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog.

Oh, and don't forget that there are SEVERAL more pages of this album on my blog if you'd like to see them.

Happy ribbony crafting, everyone!

Wedding Gift Purse Bag

Welcome back.  I am so excited to share with you the beautiful ribbons and supplies from Really Reasonable Ribbon and the wedding gift box or favor for a wedding or wedding shower that I made today.

I love preparing gift items for weddings, baby showers and birthdays using my gorgeous ribbons, card stock papers, stamps and dies.  It didn't take me much time to make this wedding gift bow.

I used one of my favorite Mid Ruffle Satin red ribbons (shown below) and 1 1/2" wide Silky Crush White ribbon.  Really Reasonable Ribbon has a nice selection of colors of the Silky Crush ribbon and I love how this ribbon was easy to use to make this bow.  I used the 1" Scor-Tape from Really Reasonable Ribbon to stick the bow onto the front and the ribbon on the handle.  I love using this Scor-Tape for all of my bows and ribbons since it is easy to take the bow off of the tape or arrange the ribbon of the bow and reapply it onto the Scor-Tape that was stuck to the paper.

I glued a flat back rhinestone pearl button in the center of this bow.  The Wild Orchid roses and berries are sold at Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I could not have made this beautiful bow without the Zutter Bow It All bow maker from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Since having the Zutter Bow it All, I have made every bow and now buy this for my friends for Christmas or their birthdays.  They are all using it for making their bows and very happy with this.

Mid Ruffle Satin red ribbon

The 7/8" Mid Ruffle satin ribbon is gorgeous and makes very nice bows.  It comes in six colors.
Other supplies used:
Red foil card stock
White shimmer card stock
Sue Wilson Design Lace Edge Leaf die
Sue Wilson-Nobel Collection-Ornate Pierced Rectangle
Sue Wilson-Gemini Collection-Dorado
Martha Stewart Punch for the handle

It's Your Birthday!

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

I'm going to share a birthday card with all of you today.  It's always fun to use my great ribbons from Really Reasonable Ribbon on cards and projects. :) and you know I enjoy distressing my ribbons, too.

I've used the dark brown gingham ribbon and  baby pink seam binding tied into a fluffy bow along the side of the card.  Pink burlap string is tied into several of the vintage buttons.

Mulberry flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts include a pink edged magnolia, pink sweetheart blossoms, cosmos, aster daisy, and hip rosebuds.

If you'd like more detailed information about this card, just pop over to my blog, "Just Coffee Please..."

Don't forget to play along in our current challenge!  We'd love to see what you've been creating with your favorite ribbons and trims! :)

More Than All the Fish in the Sea

More Than All the Fish in the Sea Birthday Card with Graphic 45 Voyage Beneath the Sea

Hello, Ribbon Lovers! Kathy here with some gorgeous seam binding ribbon and a great card to share with you today.
More than all the fish in the sea birthday card Kathy by Design 01
Making cards for "tweens" can be a real challenge. They're too old for cutsie wootsie themes, and young enough that they want to receive a card that's hip and cool. I think I might have found the perfect remedy for this dilemma! Graphic 45's Voyage Beneath the Sea collection is filled with fun images and a steampunk vibe that fills the bill perfectly. See what you think of this More Than All the Fish in the Sea Birthday card with pockets.

This vibrant color palette is a perfect match for Really Reasonable Ribbon Seam Binding. This double layer bow pops off the page with rich Noble Peacock Seam Binding and vivid Orange Seam Binding. It's a color pairing that even a mermaid would love! The bows were a cinch to tie with the help of my Zutter Bow-it-All-Tool. I don't know what I would do without it! Bonnie has it on sale, so now is a great time to check it out, along with all the great ribbon tying tutorials on YouTube.

This copper starfish charm really catches the eye when topped with the same beautiful ribbons. By the way, seam binding is one of the easiest ribbons to work with, so if you are just beginning your ribbon tying journey, you might want to give it a try. You can find it in a rainbow of colors at Really Reasonable Ribbon. I buy the white and cream by the spool so I can custom dye it to match any project.

The party continues inside the card where I've layered more gorgeous papers and added a little gift envelope that's just the right size to hold a cash gift, earrings or other small treasure. I just love how these colors work together to create a sunny, happy birthday card that would work for tweens, teens and adults alike.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheerio,
kathy

Soft and Sweet...

Hello.....time just flies doesn't it?  Mother's Day is not very far off.  I have a card to share with Mom in mind today.   Really Reasonable Ribbon has some beautiful new blooms as you can see.  I love the pale blues/aquas in this collection.  Had to create something with them today!
I used Canvas Corp papers and sweet scissors along with some vintage aqua measuring tape snippets to pair with the flowers and the Bay Leaf Seam binding.  They all matched so perfectly.
I added a lady silhouette and a spool die cut wrapped with a bit of vintage laces.  I framed my silhouette with a die cut needlepoint frame for fun.
Soft, sweet, shabby , and perfect for Mother!  Thanks for visiting!  Hugs, Cherry

You're A Star!

Hi there crafty peeps!  I am back today as my last post to share an adorable card that could be used for numerous occasions.  I created it using a stamp set from Fun Stampers Journey and beautiful ribbon from this month's Ribbon Club Kit that can be found at the Really Reasonable Ribbon store.

I stamped the star image in two different colored inks from FSJ.  I fussy cut them out and adhered both to a white cardstock panel.  The red star I popped up with foam dots.  I then adhered a puffy silver star to the top of the red star.  I added the sentiment on a strip of white cardstock over the top of the blue star with foam dots.  I wrapped Red and Turquoise Diamond Print Grosgrain around a red card base and also made a bow to adhere to the sentiment strip.  As a final touch I added Robin's Egg and Garnet Perfect Pearls around the stars in opposing colors.  I also added a few Sparkling Clear sequins to the card.  I hope you enjoy my card for today and have a wonderful week!

Baby Card Collection with Ribbons

Hey there, all our ribbon-loving friends.  It's me, Karen, sharing a post today to show you some sweet baby cards I created using lots of great ribbons and trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  It's always nice to have a wide variety of cards on hand; including baby cards.  I thought I'd get ahead of the game by creating a few at one time.
Really Reasonable Ribbon made it easy for me to come up with a few cards that would become cherished memories for these new mothers-to-be, and Really Reasonable Ribbon can help YOU to do the same.  They have all the right ribbons, laces, trims, flowers and more to adorn your next project.
My first baby card was made for a sweet baby girl that was born to a friend of mine from church.  They moved away a few years ago, but she just gave birth to her 12th child, and I knew I couldn't miss sending her a very special card.  I tied some Lemon Baker's Twine around the horse's neck and topped it with a tiny button.  By the way......YES, I said it's her 12th child (and no multiples).
My second card is one for a baby boy.  I used some patterned papers, sticker sentiments, a journalling tag, and then I added a chipboard button that I threaded three times with Silver Metallic Baker's Twine.  I also ran Solid Gray Baker's Twine around the card several times, and tied a nice big bow with it.
And that brings me to my third baby card.  This one is also a baby boy card, and it sure is sweet.  Really Reasonable Ribbon's sweet trims just give the softest touches.......even to BOY cards.  LOL  Ribbons are always OK when it comes to babies.  This card has a sweet chipboard Little Lamb tag that I tied up with a big bow of Grass Green Seam Binding.
At the bottom of the card, you will see a little 3-D spiral with a button in the center, and it's tied with a small length of the sweet Solid Yellow (Lemonwood) Baker's Twine.  Isn't it just the sweetest touch?  Ribbons and trims don't always have to be overwhelming on a card.  They can be also be used as small, soft accents that just step up your card a notch.  I encourage you to check out ALL the fabulous ribbons, seam binding, baker's twine, laces, trims, flowers and more that Really Reasonable Ribbon has waiting for you!
Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Don't forget about the FUN CHALLENGE we have taking place now on the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog.  We always love to have you play along.  Have a blessed week!

Tips for Distressing Ribbon and a Mother's Day card

Happy Monday, everyone!

With Mother's Day right around the corner, I knew I needed to get a card made for my Mother-in-Law so I could get it in the mail soon along with her gift. I turned to the current Monthly Ribbon Club Assortment for my inspiration.

The turquoise gingham in the kit is one of my very faves! I knew I needed to use it on my Mother's Day card, without a doubt!  I'm also addicted to every color of the seam binding, so I use it on almost every project I make it seems.

My card took on a shabby/vintage flair, so my ribbons needed to follow suit.  One of the things I love about almost every ribbon at RRR is how easy it is to distress them.

The turquoise gingham was run through kraft ink to give it a county/shabby feel.  You could also use a kraft marker to achieve the same effect.

The forsythia seam binding was slightly dampened.  While wet, I added small amounts of two different shades of ink to my hands and crumpled it all up into a small ball. I kept rolling and rolling the seam binding into a ball, similar to what you would do with clay or play dough until I had achieved the desired effect - lots of wrinkles and different shades.  Unravel and it's ready to use!  If the seam binding is still damp, just let it air dry or hit it very fast with a heat gun.

The mulberry flowers are just as easy to distress.  The turquoise chrysanthemum was a bit bright, so I added a wash of kraft ink with a watercolor brush.  I used the same technique to change the color of the white one, too.  Easy peasy!  Pale yellow open roses and a mini sweetheart blossom were added to the floral bouquet.

Natural burlap string is tied through the large vintage button.
